Hey Guys,

So I'm planning out some scratch builds for some "counts as" Night and Doom Scythes for my crons and I'm wondering what the general consensus is on how big they should be.

They should be mounted on a large oval base like Valkyries, Stormravens and the like... That's a given. But how big should the model be? I'm guessing it should be comparable to the wing span of the valkyrie? And how much does it need to be elevated off the base? Is it required that it's a s high up as the Valk and other such "flyers" or can I use a shorter stand and have it flying low?
Chaplain_Fortis
Use the same base and stand height as a Valk/Raven.

Use roughly their wingspans to guide you.

Make sure it looks like a cylon raider/the necron BFG ships

Agreed with everything up until the last bit. Why does it have to look exactly like the artwork? What if I prefer to make them look like flying saucers? Don't be stifling my creativity mang.

Cyclon Raiders are ######ing badass Bobo. Flying saucers are lame and retro.
ArchonCryx
I reckon they'd be a lot sleeker than Valkyries or Stormravens b-c they don't actually need space for transport capacity (just a teleporter thingo)....

I reckon they'd be much closer to the sleek profile of a Razorwing.... probably not as long, but similar width and sleek thickness.... imho...

All I really want to see is a reasonable sized model on a proper size/height flying base. the rest is up to you and I think the flying saucer idea sounds darn kewl!

Go for whatever you like!

I'd use the Razorwing as a guide for width/lengh/thickness (not actual profile, go nuts on that, i just meant in terms of how big it should be)
Blackhearts Reaver
As mentioned in other threads, I recon about diameter 20cm (a bit smaller than the Razor wing so the circle fits inside a basic A4 sized sprue box, and about 3-4cm thick with variations from artwork ratio's
ScoJu
I think a great size for wingspan is the 'arcs' from the ghost arc/ doom arc.
Cut them at the end where it meets the weapon and rib attachments.

Asked this myself back when the dex was first released.

Consensus at our club was that any scratch built cron flyers should have a circular hull at least 7" in diameter (7-8" puts in on par with the razorwing), have a hull height of at least 2" and must be mounted on a flyer stand.
neil
8" is a good size to aim for I think.. although anything 6" upwards would be OK.
