So I used to go to La Trobe, a few years back, but wasn't into wargaming then - however, I'm thinking of getting started. A few clubs are about the same distance from me, Bundoora included.

So what games are generally played at WGoL? And are complete and utter noobs welcome to a meet?

All n00bs are definitely welcome. We have club armies for Warhammer (of both favours) and for other games there's usually someone who has a spare you can borrow (me in particular, as I have army building ADD). Warmachine and Hordes are gaining in popularity, but other games such as Malifaux, Infinity, Flames of War and Dystopian wars are gaining in popularity. We don't recommence until late Feb, but as stated we always welcome new members!

We don't start back till the La Trobe's first semester unfortunately
Generally we play Games workshop games and warmachine/hoards we also do a bit of infinity
If you post up here during the week beforehand then you can organize games, we generally create a new thread each week saying what each person is bringing and when.
We are fine with noobs, we were all ones ourselfs and some are still, the guys are very helpful and can teach alot.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the fast replies guys - what sort of turnout do you normally get?

Not familiar with infinity myself, but I'm still in the 'choosing a game to play' phase (thinking of starting off with Warmachine, then perhaps going onto WH40k later - but I've got another thread about that).

I'll definitely keep an eye on what's happening with WGoL though!

At the moment it seems that its easier to get a Warmahordes game than a 40k one. As a new comer to the hobby I'd recommend it as a starting point - you can begin playing with 4 models (about 60 bucks) and build your way up from there, rather than the 40 odd models you'll need to play 40k. That having been said, using others models is probably the best way to get a taste. WGoL tends to be about 20 people a night on average.

pretty much what they have said
when uni is on we run every friday midday to midnight

pretty sure to always find warhammer / 40k
warmachine/hordes and infinity are pretty popular lately as well
you can always borrow stuff and as reuben said warmahordes is really cheap to get started

and its a great bunch of guys
except asher, he is a noob and we can't get rid of him tongue.gif
also cam, but even if he wasn't overseas he wouldn't read this for 3 months

I think the point that everyone is making is pick a game and as long as it isn't overly obscure then one of us will play it. Then again, a lot of us will play anything so don't stress.

Also mind yourself around Scott. Don't tell him but we're scheming reasons why we should throw him out the airlock...

Cheers guys. Do you get many newbies at the start of semester?

I'd like to come along and meet a few faces once it starts up even if I haven't acquired any miniatures yet - either borrow or just watch and meet people - , if that's cool?

I've got a few crews, so should you ever wish to try a game before you buy happy to show you the ropes.
CapnBloodbeard
That'd be awesome, I'd appreciate that Reuben smile.gif

Mr X isn't quite right, there's no scheming, Scott WILL go out the airlock at some point...
