if gw want to make this an interstate event, why dont they hold a smaller gd at conflict instaed of doing all the stage 1 stage 2 crap, make the final in sydney, i think they would get far more enteries in gd and while waiting you can go to conflict. there will be less of peoples entries being dirtied or chipped this way.
slardy, what sort of companies would be involved in your painting comps and where would they be held?

they would have to have conflict events running at the same time in all the states and they can't share their big displays that way. any new release stuff would need lots of duplicates.
otherwise, if they overcome the above mentioned points, i like that idea of having Conflict events as the preliminary rounds. excellent thinking Jod.

Just because he is "a School Teacher" doesn't mean he hasn't got a business (company) on the side, Hell I do, and I'm a university researcher.

gw doesnt have to have all the conflicts at the same time to have them as the preliminary rounds for gd. they could collect the winning enteries along the way.
the main reason i went to games day/ golden demon was not just to see the best painters but also to see the conversions, just because you can paint well doesnt mean that you can convert well and vise versa. its really hard to see what other people in this hobby are doing when the biggest congragation of us isnt being run any more, its just the best, which isnt necissarily the best in my opinion. i for one hope that gw goes back to a similar format that showcases more than just my local stores talent.

I totally agree with Jester, that's actually been my point since this new format was first suggested to me, we are missing out on seeing so much of what the hobby produces. If there was at least net coverage of EVERYTHING then it wouldn't be so bad (like the GTs in the US where they seem to photograph everything then do highlights on favs).
PS I don't believe in this no photos till the finals thing, it's a painting comp, you are putting things out to be seen, so they should be. Hell GD UK used to have coverage during the day at the 1st cut level, then showed the finals and winners, and that was for a 1 day event. Ours is over how many weeks again and so far the most we've had online is mine and Andrew's wobbly pics through the cabinet glass sans tripods.
