Hey all,
This is shocking, for once (or twice), after reading a guide, I really wanted to try it out - crazy eh? Well, I love flame, and let's face it; who doesn't? So, away I went, trying to make Green Stuff look as much like steve's flames as possible.
Well, sorry for the load of pictures, and the fact that there was shadow on an other-wise sunny day in Melbourne. But the proof is in the pudding, Steve know's how.
First trial of scuplting flame, and its not as good, slightly resembles wolf fur, but I'm happy with it. Painted like flame, you won't know the difference
Thats another Objective Marker for my IG army, now to open the GS up again, and make a Rohan LotR Objective Marker.
I'm hooked - what do the rest of you guys think?

Looks great, when I first saw it I though that Steve did it, not oyu, then I read your username

Good work mate. Just need to convert some firemen IG to put the fire out before they can collect the objective

Thanks mate,
Lol, if it was steve's it would be better.
IG firemen... interesting... What would GW's photoshop team do? Have water instead of bullets
Its actually a very good idea, I think I may have to

Looking good!
Paint 'em up and they'll look fantastic. It's all about random shapes (easy to sculpt) and depth (for good drybrushing).
Does anyone know if Victoria Lamb has ever written anything about her realistic lighting paintjobs? The lighting is my next challenge.
Lots of flame = good, what's the name of the damned SM chapter covered with flame? Now there's a great new army idea, wish I was playing at Arc40K for an excuse to do burning power armour
Cheer and thanks for the nice words,
Steve

Steve - thanks for the support, and kind words :-D
Victoria Lamb's Diorama is absolutley amazing, and if you can give us a guide mate, ohh man, people will start opening churches in your name
I was wondering, if I use your theory, my pictures, and a flaming objective marker for LotR, and post it on a different website (giving you credit - of course!), would that be acceptable? Making flames is so much fun, and those guys will be rapt.
Thanks again mate

Was in the same article as LotD, the LotD have flames and bones as their chapter symbol, but the special features of one of the other chapters was that they were covered in warp flame or something. Anyone?

Can you guys stop flaming each other! ;-)
The Chapter you're trying to remember is called the Flame Falcons.

OOh, another Steve Firsth project... one man, so many projects, so little time
Sounds like me... 'now as soon as my exams are over, I can do my Wargods, my Dark Eldar, my Eldar, my Grey Knights, my Crimson Fists....."
:-D
Anyway, back on topic.
Nice work on the barrels Faramirsmumma, very cool

Steve,
The rules for the Flame Falcons are already out. I think the website referred to WD260 or thereabouts. IIRC they are in one of the compendiums too.

Hagen the page you linked to mentioned a re-write of the rules to bring them up to V4, is that in the WD you are referring to or is that the original article?

Steve: The original article, sorry. Blame my skimming glasses... :-)
Faramirsmumma: Well it's all about flames... :-( And yours look nice too. When are you painting them?

Hagen, don't worry about it, its all good :-D
Thanks mate, undercoating it tonight... although I am undecided on whether to put sand on it.... I could put some on... and some scorched grass... thoughts?
SteveFirth
Nov 23 2005, 12:53 PM
Faramirsmumma - Fair call! Burn the OT posters!
Some sand and burnt/singed grass would look great, I have been using sand/flock and really long grass (woodland scenics) for desert bases, shaping and blackening the long grass bits should look good. Now I know what to do for the Fire Falcon's base, what colour were they? What would look good as a background for the yellow/orange/red?
Hagen - at least you found the ref, I had no idea.
Cheers all,
Steve

The Oil Drums are going dark green, with highlights, and then the 'source lighting' on them... should be fun, may have to do eveything else that way too. Okay, I will definatly do sand, grass, etc. now, cheers mate :-D

Painted version I am hoping to do on Friday...
I have exams today, so theres no chance of that, and I want to take step-by-step pictures aswell, so it will have to be tomorow.
Cheers guys for the kind words, I have started another one!
