Dude, that's not what a 2nd ed minotaur should look like. Where's the red and yellow dazzle cammo!

Seriously though, looks good, though I think you went a little heavy on the verdigris.

Subscribed - as someone who has still played more games of 2nd ed than later editions, I'm very intersted to see how this goes. I sometimes feel I prefer some of the RT/2nd Ed and even 3rd ed sculpts for the character in them and the lack of size-creep. (Nids in particular)

Yeah, as I said, he's a test mini. It doesn't actually look that pronounced 'in the flesh'. I played around with a couple of greens before I found one that worked.
I did consider the original Minotaurs scheme, for about half a second.
Some of the rogue trader marine schemes were even worse though. Rainbow Warriors springs to mind.

The minotaurs had one of the most epic colour schemes ever

They put the dazzle into dazzle cammo.

GW Scaly Green thinned down to basically green water. The others were too, well, green

Glad to see more and more people getting back into " the golden era " that was 40k keep it up

Oh man, I don't think I could even read when 2nd ed was around. The idea of basing an army from the Badab War books is sick though, and those bases will look great too.

I just think they look cool. Modelling is more important to an old fart like me. As a boarding party support dread, long range stuff isn't that important too. He may suck in the game but he'll look cool.

Cheers mate. I've got about 8 weeks before the 2nd ed campaign (starting in 2 weeks) kicks up the points. So need to get the initial 1000points done in that time.

I must confess, when I first looked at the scheme on your test mini, I was a bit "meh" about the scheme.
Then I saw this termie, and the "meh" changed to "holy ######!"
If this mini is anything to go by, this army will look incredible. The basing alone is some of the best I've seen.

Very nicely done on the terminator. I like the poses you have, I find it gives way more character to the model then the paint ever could. The paint is by no means less then remarkable (which makes me want to do your bronze weathering style on my iron warriors lol) however I like your attention to detail

Works well with the base too

with the completed termie, the orange looks as though it is clashing with the crimon magenta/red??
would a blue be better or yellow??
again it just comes down to personal taste.
still looks great tho

Cheers. I trialled several colours before settling on the red/orange. It'll be toned down a bit once the hoplite shield is attached (assuming they ever arrive)

i'm curious what rules you're using for the dreadnaught. especially its hurricane bolters, which didnt exist in 2nd ed.
i suppose you could use the weapon point conversion rules from dark millenium to trade a twin heavy bolter for twin stormbolters and add a pintle stormbolter (and presumably a billion hunter killer missiles, or atleast two with frag autolaunchers)
thats a wickedly cheap dreadnaught (atleast without the HKs) and 4 stormbolters aint exactly to be sneezed at
i miss 2nd ed >.>
Biggy
Feb 21 2012, 12:17 PM
We've been working through some conversions for 2nd ed for use in the campaign. Here is the Hurricane bolter conversion (there's more in the full list and more to come)
Hurricane Bolters (Land Raider Crusader and Ironclad Dreadnought) 12 Points
Counts as 3 Stormbolters that must be targeted at the same unit.
Can be placed on a Land Raider replacing the sponson weapons (deduct the cost of the Lascannons first). Therefore a Land Raider with two sets of ‘Hurricane Bolters instead of the lascannons would cost 154 points (220 [raider] - 90 [lascannons] + 24 [hurricanes]). You could of course modify this further by adding the standard Crusader’s multi-melta for a total cost of 219 points.
Alternatively a ‘hurricane bolter’ can be placed on a Dreadnought as one arm. If placed on a Dreadnought the options for the Dreadnought’s other arm become restricted to;
Power Fist with built in Stormbolter (15 points)
Thunder Hammer with built in Meltagun (15 points)
Chainfist with built in Meltagun (12 Points)
Either Meltagun above may be replaced by a heavy flamer (12 points)
A Dreadnought configured in this way (and only a Dreadnought configured in this way) may take up to two Hunter Killer Missiles for the standard vehicle upgrade cost but may only fire one in a turn.
