Hey guys,

here is the official feedback thread so let us know what you liked and didn't like and also what you would like to see in the future. We want to be able to make next years event as enjoyable as possible.

Heya, here's my feedback from the day.

Likes:

- Close to home
- Good Terrain
- Chairs to sit down and chill out on
- Clean Facilities
- Warhams 40k
- scoring system was simple and fair
- 1 Day Tourneys FTW! biggrin.gif

Dislikes:

- Some of the missions were a bit too wacky for me. Messenger was an instant win for my opponent (putting him with snikrot and appearing on my deployment zone straight away huzzah!) and waay too easy to wipe out and the exploding objectives that caused more damage to actually capturing them than my opponent did was borderline grr for me.

- The heat FML. I understand theres nothing you can do about this (it is Feb its summer i get it) to have 20-30 Post pubescent males in a small hall on a 28+ degree = epic manfunk sweathammer! Perhaps consider running the event in a cooler month in the future?

- Drinks. Good to have but hot ones? Not a fan of hot fizzy drink sad.gif

So apart from my bitching of those 3 things i had a good day (considering my dice rolls were abysmal hehe)

Look forward to attending this event next year!

Cheers

Great day in all.

Gotta agree with Rick, the Messenger mission was a bit easy to kill your opponents. Be interesting to know how many games ended in a draw because of that?

But Rick - how did the Messenger deploy with Snikrot, he didn't have Scout or Infiltrate, so couldn't have deployed via outflank with them?

having a mission where most people get a draw is not a bad thing, it seperates the men from the boys...
I wasn't there, so I don't know the mission. But Vic Masters had a mission round 1 where it was hard to win, most people should get a draw. It split the field into 3 groups, the good the bad and the ugly ;P I played Mitch round 1, he ended up in the ugly group tongue.gif

My one bit of feedback is don't have it that weekend... It is the weekend of my GF's birthday, so I can't come sad.gif

In all seriousness, check the vic tourney calendar page to see what is going on. 3 Tourneys in 1 month is pretty extreme, and it usually means the attendance on all 3 isn't that flash. If you can only hold 30 players, then not a big stress for you guys as you pretty much made that. March is usually pretty light on. There are only 2 events in march at the moment, VICC (which not everyone can play in as it is a team event) and D6 Gaming's event which can only hold 12 players (ATM). I think March would be good from a spreading of the tourneys perspective.

Other than that, from an outsider I have heard good things, keep up the good work smile.gif

snikrot lets his entire unit hold in reserve and come in from any board edge. It isn't scout or infiltrate, it is just a special rule called Ambush

That was kinda the reson for the mission. It was designed to see how people would handle trying to keep such a fragile creature alive.

Will definately take that into consideration.

Overall, great event.

Venue
Google Map a bit funny but got there in the end.
Parking not an issue

Players
30 players is a good size for a Tournament. Although I'd like to see more and great to see different faces. Also, would have like to play people I didn't know.

Points
1350 points is a nice change. Means those that went to Arc simply adjust their lists

Sports
Easy to fill out. Had explanation on each score.

Comp
This is always an issue. Sometimes you get it right. Sometimes you get it soooo wrong. Myself I wasn't happy I got 4/32, thought that was a bit extreme vs. Adam.Synoradzski got a 7/32 which was about right for his 3 units of Long Fang ML. To clarify: My list 2 Tervigon (1 HQ & 1 Troop), 10 Termagants, 3 Trygons, and 2 units Raveners. No Doom and No Hive Guard.

Missions: I'm a fan of the wackiness of Mission (although not to wacky)
* Messenger: I did like this one but minor change I would make is it is an attachment to the unit, can be attached to any unit including single model units and does not fill up a space for transport purposes. This way, he benefits from the unit's special rules i.e. infiltrate, outflank, drop pod, etc. a note for Nids, an IC cannot be attached to a unit in a Mycetic Spore.
* Break the Lines: Good for close combat armies. Bad for Car Park guard.
* Explosion Objective: I liked that there were 3 objective but I wasn't a fan of the explosion. It meant that to Marines it did little but other armies that it hurt alot.
* Annihilation Kill HQ: standard. HQ kill of opponent HQ worth 3 kill points instead.

Heat
* if running in the summer, have fans running
* have cold drinks. Leave them overnight or in a cold bucket

Not sure you can complain with what you were running. What could you have dropped to make it harder? The raveners?

My feeling is that if you were within about 3 points of what you think you should have received, then you're doing well. (In an out of 32 marks system).

1. Got comp slapped for playing Nids
2. Other than a Tervigon HQ, there's not much other choice
3. @ 1350, the army won't be big. Sp taking 2 Tervigon fills out the Scoring requirement
4. To GET to the enemy, you have to walk across the table
5. Nids aren't eternal Warrior, don't have Mephiston special abilities, no invulnerable save ... no lots of things
6. Major lack of shooting. Hive Guard are only REAL choice when it comes to shooting.

Like I said, sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it soooo wrong.
But overall, I enjoyed the tournament. I look forward coming back next year in 6th wink.gif.
