Fantastic work. Thats one seriously cool dwarf!
The only crit I have is that the cross on the priest's stomach seems to be molded to it, or bent back over it.

Thanks for the comments guys

, I am pretty happy with how the priest turned out. At the moment I dont have plans to cast any of them.

Oh, goody, someone that lives in Adelaide that is young and impressionable enough that I can get him to do all the hard work for me.......interested in some commision work?
You're lucky you're good....I was considering a challenge game for use of the avatar, but you've proved yourself worthy of it.....
Fantastic work, especially for one so young....

Hmmm interesting, I thought about casting them in resin myself, but just for me and not commercially. Simply because I didnt think they were that good :-D and I suck when it comes to casting.
Anyways here is some more pics, The dwarf is getting there I just need to finish his sheild and boots, Also here is a couple of new things A old man and an ogre (both are very WIP)
Dwarf Front
Dwarf Back
Old man
Ogre, quite skinny......For now

You've definitely got a real knack for sculpting. Very impressive.

You obviously have the talent to sculpt very well, and with some more work on poses and so forth, from concept sketches and the like (I don't know whether you already do or not, I imagine you would start off with a rough idea etc), you could take your work from very good stuff, to even better fantastically great stuff.
IMO you should if you already dont, look around and talk to other artists about it, Zordana would probably be in a better position to help here.

Looks like you're having a lot of fun doing it.

good stuff
i have a problem with the priest, in his head is to large (very nice shape though, especially the cheek bones)
huge fan of the old man, kinda looks like he is starting to come down with some kind of nasty disease :-D

One (more?) thing with the Priest, his belt buckle should be somewhere between where it is and the line of the cross (and his navel). If he's twisting without moving his hips, the line of his gut would curve back towards straight, so from the pose it looks (above the belt) as though he's twisting from the hips, and (below the belt) standing facing forward at the same time.
But while I think the pose needs a little work, the individual elements are terrific, and I definitely think you've got a future in this if you want it, and probably working for some big boys as well.
I tell you this because you are so good that a couple of small details will make you better.

Thanks for the feedback guys :-D Anatomy is always difficult and I have just started to study different aspects of it. if you stuff up the anatomy the whole mini looks really......crap, Once again thanks for the feedback.
I'll post some more pics when there is some more done.

Wow, those are awesome
I really like the dwarf, but the shape of his nose is a little scary. I prefer them to be a little more bulbous and less... lengthy. I think the chainmail needs to be done in another way, not sure how though, it just doesn't look enough like chain to me.
I love the priest, though I agree with a few of the points the other guys made. I actually don't think his head is too big, he has a cartoony quality to him and I think it looks pretty well sized to me. Love his belly, but yeah the belt buckle looks like its situated incorrectly
You seem to be able to sculpt faces pretty darn well and these sculpts you've posted are better than a lot of the stuff ive seen cast in the past. I think you will just get better with every sculpt and I look forward to seeing some of your miniatures in metal one day!!
nice dude, they are awesome

I have a question too bag, is sculpting chainmail a quick and easy thing to do? I've had a quick look around at some tutes, and I like the way yours comes out. Are you using like a sharp point to do it with?

Its alright Bag. Aside from the WAU sponsorship thing, if you wanted to commerically persue a range of your own, I could PM with details of websites in the UK that could sell your work. And possibly proffesionally cast it
Well guys here is the finished Painted Priest In all his glory. he only took me a few hours
The Resin casted copy that I did wasnt very good because his hammer arm didn't cast very well. But it gives you an idea

and it shows off my primative casting abilities.
ALL ENJOY!!

Hey stop throwing so many questions at him.. thats my job!

I could really use a hair tute if you know of any bag

Now that I've been practicing chainmail all day!
Your priesty came up very schmart, I envy your
talents 8)
What type of mould did you use and what casting resin?:
I just used this product made by a co. called barnes they have a huge range of stuff. The silicone is called ultrasil and the resin is called easycast.
I could really use a hair tute if you know of any bag:
Sorry I dont know of any specific tutes but I just use a sharp scaple to do mine also make a note on how gravity effect things like hair as it will make it seem more realistic if you do.

Cheers you loving fan.

No I havent sculpted any females, The whole process is different to sculpting males  in terms of body structure etc.

Oh yeh, Bag, your silicon looks like it has too much of the catalyst in it, the barnes silicon is meant to be a pale sky blue colour, any difference and the texture and drying time is quite severely affected.
Is that the first mold youve made? Quite a goot two piece mold, is it easy to align? And also, from which point are you injecting the resin from?
peacekeeper
Dec 2 2005, 05:04 PM
I dont wanna hi-jack your thread, which wont happen anyway with people laughing too much to reply :-) but I've gone ahead with starting my empire army, and modifying my troops to have real armor (not those pansy puffy shirts).
The first one is a comparison of the first model I did, and the latest one I've just started, shows his beard and chain armor
clickys I think theres a bit of an improvment. And the second
clickys shows my first and only attempt at hair, its not very great

but I must practice more! Any C&C?
drozzy:
Yea I put way too much catalyst in it, No its not the first mold I have made i've been experementing with it for a while now.
Peacekeeper:
Thats a fine attempt at chainmail. The only thing is that you need to use a smaller tool so you get smaller a "hole" keep trying and post some more pics or feel free to ask any questions
peacekeeper
Dec 2 2005, 11:11 PM
Yeah I reckon I could find a burnisher smaller than the one I use, but after doing 3-4 more guys I've found I was pushing too far/hard into it, and the 'gap' inbetween each hole was too far, so I'm doing more holes, smaller, and closer together, looks much better. Thanks!

Still haven't done any more attempts at hair yet, will get more piccies tomorra.

I'll add my praise as well, great model with a nice paint job to boot. Interesting to see the raw as well. as the saying goes 'By George I think he's got IT!!"
