The above link takes you to a thread by a guy who does awesome custom laser cut templates in a variety of designs and style. The Space Wolves ones he has done are fantastic (IMO) and I am keen to see if he do something similar with Black Templar.

I am looking at seeing how much interest there is and doing a bulk order to try and reduce the possibly high shipping costs.

Anyone else interested? The prices and colours are:

Colors are: red, orange, green, yellow, and light blue. All but the blue are described as 'fluorescent,' which means that the lines scribed into the material will catch the light in a similar fashion to a fiber optic.

I would be down for a Space Wolves set.

Cool, just to let people know this is still being considered and not a dead idea. I am going to see if he can do up some nice Templar ones so far, considering the wolf one is already done there's no issues there.

I will let you know how we go, basically if he can do a nice Templar set I will be doing an order no matter what so if you want on board let me know.

For those people who have placed an order, and those who might be interested in future orders, here are some of the designs:

Just an update that the order is indeed going ahead, the designer had a brief visit to the hospital but is fine and will be getting access to the Laser cutter in the coming days. Once everything is cut he will send me a postage quote and we can go from there.

Indeed I have, I will PM those who have asked, but again the chances are getting slimmer each time as the plastic gets cut and used up, we already down to only three colour options for this run now, Green, Orange and Yellow.

here's some more designs, however orders are now closed for my bulk order. If you are interested in getting some done you can either start a bulk order like I did or just contact Matt directly and lodge an order (though the postage might make it a little expensive, thus the bulk order).

Carved into the skull of the Apoc Barrage is "TEMPLARI". Alternate 10" has the name of the owner's crusade on the scroll work.

Another design update and a message that the final cuts will be done on Friday and hopefully shipping over the weekend, with luck we will get the templates in a couple of weeks.

They're done!



Matt is about to ship them today so they should be here in a fortnight. I will work out the shipping costs split across everyone based on their order sizes and get in touch with people on an individual basis.

People will also then need to let me know whether they:

- Can pickup in Canberra or Melbourne (I will be at Wintercon)
or
- Want it shipped to them and if so in what method (i.e. just a padded bag or more protection).

The templates arrived this afternoon and I have separated them all into owners groups. I will post them out tomorrow to those who have paid.

I am VERY impressed with the results, they are very professional and some of the designs look absolutely amazing, especially considering he largely designed them all himself without much if any guidance from us.

I most likely WILL be placing another bulk order in the near future, as I will be taking some sets to Wintercon and showing them off and I know that there were a few people who wanted sets but missed out.

I'm sad I only just saw this thread. Any chance of a pic of the templates you got?

I've posted most of them out, however the protective paper was on all of them so they would have looked like the design specs that are posted in the thread earlier. I have a full set of Black Templar which I am removing all the paper from now and can post pics of those shortly.

If some of the other guys would post pics of theirs once they have removed all the paper it would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean? Size wise and shape? If so, they are an exact match.

Yes, that was what I meant. Obviously shape wasn't going to be a huge issue other than on the flame template... and there's a slight amount of leeway on size given that each time GW release a template set in a new plastic they're a slightly different size...

Interesting, they shouldnt deviate in size at all, considering they are supposed to be 3" & 5". But in any case when I lined my new ones up with the old GW green ones I have they matched perfectly, no idea what release the GW ones were though.

As mentioned by Dono, the pics simply cannot do them justice!

The older flexible white plastic templates were marginally smaller than subsequent runs (I guess they shrunk post-casting or something? I dunno).

The only other explanation I can think of is that I seem to recall reading something about the fantasy templates saying that the area on the INSIDE of the circle is considered in the area, which means there is a slight border which doesnt count towards the area impacted.

This could be the same with some editions of 40k templates?

Different plastics have different shrink rates as they set. I believe that's all that happened with these. It quite possibly also explains why the 'inch' marks on the old red whippy sticks were only 25cm.

Little paler than i expected but very happy with the quality of the work and of the plastic itself.
