*POST UPDATED 23 JUNE *

---If you wish to attend this event please email me at andrewps.wee@gmail.com with your name and mobile phone number. I will provide banking details. To confirm your place, payment must be made by Thursday 28 June.---

We are playing an epic 4v4 game of the 'Invasion!' scenario on pg 410 of the big WH rulebook. This will be 2400 points a force (9600 points a side). Each side will have 5D6 power dice on their turn, and the sum of 1st, 2nd and 4th lowest dice for dispel dice. The table size will be 10 ft x 6 ft.

For those of you without access to this scenario, here is the run down:

Primary Objective:
Capture battlefield quarters and defensible areas for 1 Control Point (CP) each. 7 CPs are available. Game can also be ended immediately if the score at any point ever reaches 6-1 or 7-0.

Battlefield Quarters (4 CPs available)
The battlefield is divided into quarters. A CP is awarded to the side that dominates that quarter. Domination is awarded when a side controls more than twice as many units as the enemy in that quarter. A unit cannot occupy more than one quarter and location is defined by majority number of models in that quarter. If the quarter is not dominated by a single force, it is Contested and does not award any CPs to either side.

Defensible Areas (3 CPs available)
Control of the defensible area is provided to the force which has the closest, non fleeing unit within 12’’ to the defensible area.

Invader force special rules:

Waves of Attack: The attacker can ‘recycle’ any Core unit that has been destroyed or fled off the table. In the following invader turn, the Invader force may recycle an identical unit by model number and same equipment specs as reinforcements. Reinforcements enter from any edge within a field quarter that is being dominated by the invading force. Characters which are fleeing or destroyed with the previous unit are not revived.

Other special rules

Supreme Commander: Each side will elect a Supreme Commander, which is an army general with the highest available leadership from the pool of army generals. The Supreme Commander provides a Leadership radius of 18’’ and can be used by any other allied force.

Lieutenants: All other army generals are considered Lieutenants that may confer their regular 12’’ Leadership radius to units from their own army.

Trusted Allies: Each side uses the ‘Trusted Allies’ special rule
on page 137 of the Warhammer 8th edition Rule Book, irrespective of the composition of forces

Army Composition: No 'named' special characters

This session is really to meet, greet and have fun - ultra competitive lists may not go down that well - though I leave it to you be the judge of what that means.

Cost: $24 per person ($9 for venue hire and $15 per person for catering, which includes toasted sandwich, salad and a coffee or drink)
Date/Time: Saturday 30 June. 9.45am setup for a 10.30am start
Venue: To be advised by email.

*ORIGINAL POST BELOW*

Hi everyone,

I'm just putting this information out there and wanting to gauge interest among the WHFB faithful... we are a small gaming group of about 5 players which are based around Melbourne but meet once a month on Saturdays (full day events) to play WHFB in a location very close to Melbourne CBD. We are looking to open up our gaming circle to new players and officially launch our club on Saturday, 28 July 2012.

It's early days yet but here's the important information about how we operate:

- We plan to run organised WHFB leagues or fluffy campaigns with 5-6 months duration
- Leagues or campaigns are run like tournaments, with various prizes on offer. We like to keep this interesting by having a longer term focus beyond 2 day events and single matches.
- Importantly, our emphasis is on fun, casual gaming and meeting other players in a welcoming environment.
- We have a dedicated and independent T/O and ref to maintain the league/campaign proceedings. At the end of each league/campaign we rotate T/O responsibilities...
- Our T/O has creative control over the league/campaign design, and may take player feedback into account.

However...

- While we have secured a favourable venue in proximity to Melbourne CBD, our space constrains us to about 10-12 players.
- We are seeking around 6 more regular players to participate in our leagues. We prefer to keep our regular group relatively small but will leave some space open for casual players to visit and game with us.
- Also as we may be growing quickly we may need improved access to tables and terrain.
- We seek regulars to join us, with priority given to those that can assist us with gaming table and terrain issues. We reserve the right to extend invitations to regular players for our league/campaigns but as we plan to be an open club we will not be discriminating against casual players wanting to join us for friendly games.
- Due to limited space for casual players there will likely be a 'waiting list' mechanism for casuals to join us.
- As with most private venues close to the CBD players do need to contribute some money towards venue hire. This can be partially absorbed by entry fees for participating in our leagues. Casual players will probably pay a higher fee for single visits and will not have much impact on league results.

- As we essentially run extended tournaments, we seek prize and/or terrain sponsors for our events. If you are a WargamerAU sponsor and are interested, please PM me your proposals to discuss.

More information will be made available prior to launching our new club.

I am always up for more hams and would love very much to get more games in of the ~amazing fantasy~
However I'm a little further away, down in warragul so would need to catch the train in. How far away is the planned venue from flinders/southern cross?

Sounds intriguing, I would be quite interested. Would also like to know more about transport access though.

Hi Brendan
As described in the above post, we are 5-7 minutes by tram down St Kilda Rd from Flinders St station, near hte corner of St Kilda Rd and Toorak Rd. Most trams except for No. 1, and 8 will take you there. We also have free parking at our venue (which is a rare thing so close to the city).

Hey there,

I have a group of gamers that generally play at my place that might be interested in all coming along to a CBD based Warhammer Club. There's 3-5 of us that play here in Richmond so you're not that far away.

I usually play a straight Night Goblin Army but also have armies for High Elves, Bretonnians, Lizardmen and I'm working on an Ogre Kingdom army atm.

My other mates play Dark Elves, Empire and Skaven.

I would love to come along and be part of a good central club and get a mix of new opponents and armies to play against if possible!

Hey there I'll pm you. Our existing member base are noobish with most of them playing only one tourney only so far. We are really quite experienced at showing noobs the ropes by now.

I'd be interested. Just got back into WFB after a very long hiatus, so re-learning everything again. Currently having a blast playing Rumble in the Bronx this weekend, have even won a game! haha. Currently playing Vampire Counts.

I am interested in joining, however I don't have an army ready to play with yet :/ I'm still in the process of building and I doubt it will be ready by July 28th, but maybe.

I live in port Melbourne so near to Melbourne CBD is perfect for me.

Hi raptor, our minimum requirement is that they are assembled and undercoated. No painting is required for now. Hope that makes it easier!

Just thought I'd stop by to give these guys a free bump.

I went to the club Saturday as a fill-in and had a great time. The guys were very welcoming and I had a couple of fun games.

Based on the day I've expressed my interest in joining the club for their next season and recommend others who may have been sitting on the fence do the same.

Can I come by to the open day without an army? I'm thinking of starting up a Warhammer army if I can find a good club to join. Do I have to pay the same fee if I'm not playing?

Please feel free to come by. No entry fees for just watching!
