I just wrote a list I am going to try this weekend anyone have any imput into what to change.

First, you can't run two units of slayers without taking a slayer character (hero or lord) as it's 1 unit max +1 per slayer character in the army. You can drop 5 warriors from the horde and that should be enough to get a naked dragon slayer in.
Two, you need some magic weapons in combat. Anything ethereal will laugh at you.
Third, the thane BSB can't take a shield. He can't add any basic equipment at all, can only add runes to what he comes with naturally.
Four, the thunderers are better off without the veteran, though if you do keep him get rid of the pistols. Otherwise he'll almost never get to shoot anything. Assuming hes a challenge accepter for the runelord just in case, if so then you more likely won't get anything attacks wise from him, better the handgun and shooting stuff.
Otherwise all fairly solid, nice horde of warriors, nice combat blocks and slayers (once you get that character in), good shooting phase. Should present well for you

Thanks for that Kahz, I have fixed a couple of thing,
oh and I do relize about the vetren with pistol but during a stand and shoot reaction 12" being half rang of the handguns and 3 attacks in close combat dose make a different.

Try shields, that 5+ armour 6+ parry is ridiculously useful on the whole unit, rather than 3 attacks on the vet. Remember regardless he's still Str 3, shields would make it a bigger staying point unit wise.

Thats always provided that they are in combat. (i dont like mine being in that situation). but when it happenes the stand and shoot with 4's to hit I do better with then the armour save i all ways fail for some unknow reason.
I was acctualy just think of droping 2 thunderers and a slayer for each block to get another dragon slayer.
Thoughts?

If you don't want in em combat why do you want pistols? XD He hits on 6's now as stand & shoot (they don't get the +1 to hit and now multishot) At least shields give +1 armour vs shooting

Yeah the slayer thing sounds good, you won't lose much with 2 thunderers when you've still got the organ gun.

Most people will look at 5's to hit with stand and shoot and charge right and these are normally lind up with mounted or fast cav that changes from a distance away. they will hit and most you will get no amour save against so you have a parry only. The only way the you will stay is if you have steadfast that normally you wont get either way.
If you can take out enough by standing and shooting at 4's to hit and can make them panic/and or reduce the number of attacks then I see it out way the cost of shields. and the option of chalanging a single model if chraged by themself it funny as then i am stead fast regardless.

The veteran with pistols also helps with stand and shoot reactions as the target unit counts as being just inside the range of the shortest ranged weapon... so you will always be at close range with stand and shoot reactions for the thunderers.
My mate that plays dwarfs uses the vet with pistols for that reason.

Yes this is why you want pistols, It's also another Reason why the new Empire witch hunter is so good. He can go in other units like crossbowmen that can't normally get pistols.
