So what is your favourite Mech and why.....its battlefield performance, its cool looks, its sentimental value, some other reason?
I have a love for the Mad Cat, Vulture, Thor and Loki....its ingrained in my mind that they just look cool and I have a fondness of them that goes back a long way. I have to say though, after seeing the Mad Cat Mk II, I fell in love with its very cool looking design...I've seen the Mad Cat III and IV...but they don't do anything for me at all.
So the Mad Cat Mk II for me because it just looks awesome, in my opinion
EDIT: Just found a cool pic of one firing one of it's Gauss Rifles....what a simple but very cool mod to the mini..

For me its the 3025 "original" Rifleman - My first mech - it looks good, can hit hard if you are not afraid of the heat, and flipping arms to shoot out of rear arc has saved my paper thin butt many times.

I do like the experimental/3085 version as well:

I've gotta admit, I have this weird facination with the Kit Fox, I play a lot on Mega Mek (campaign servers), and I seem to do well with it. The Other is the Archangel...it proves the point, I bet you cant kill me before my lance mates can kill you mwa ha ha ha!

Werd, sexy... and LRMS...
Definitely Vulture for me, I prefer the less humanoid mechs and I'm more about the aesthetic than performance.
A classic configuration timber wolf looks pretty cool
In video games performance-wise I'm a fan of jump jets so I like light scout chassis like the firefly.

Ahh the memories...
Haven't played in quite a while, so most of my favorites are 3025 models.
Gonna stick to 2750/3025 here:
Best light, and sentimental favourite: the Locust.
Looked cool, was fast, never had heat problems and was one of the very few lights that could take a PPC hit or two and still keep going. It only needed to be modified to get rid of the useless machine guns and swap them for more lasers.
Best Medium: Hmmm, none really stand out, but for effectiveness I think the trebuchet wins. Not very durable, but lots of firepower for its weight.
Best Heavy: I'm split between two, and given choice, would load up my forces with lots of both: The Archer and Grasshopper.
Archer is a classic design. It may not have the big knockout weapons, but it will grind you away from range and has the armour to soak up lots of return fire. If it gets into short range then I try to switch to physical attacks. Only weakness was limited ammo for the LRMs - best variant was to swap its rear lasers for more ammo.
Grasshopper - Efficient design and deadly. Jump jets, lots of torso mounted lasers (they tend to last longer than arm weapons) and decent armour. Looks kinda funky too.
Best Assualt: King Crab! who can say no to twin AC/20s? Plus it looks cool.
For Clan Mechs - second the Vulture.
Also loved the light that had like 7 ER medium lasers and massive speed- the Fenris or something? Very effective at blowing the rear armour out of any other mech. Pity it looked a bit crap.

Warhammer, Archer and Rifleman for me. Introduced to them through robotech rpg in the 80's and the love transferred to battletech

Firemoth (Dasher)?

The H variant has more or less been banned locally because it's so OP

Has to be either the Mad Cat, or Unseen Marauder.
Both have similar design elements, and have a very fond place in my heart.
We tend to play only 3025-3050 once it gets 3060+ things do tend to get a little crazy. But I do have a Madcat II model floating around that I think is pretty cool as well.

Well the Mauler and Awesome for heavy mech. Just the look does it for me!
As for light mechs I'm a fan of the Locust, I really like it either unseen or remodeled.

Nice
I have only recently gotten back into BT after a 16 year break. I am still catching up on everything that has happened since OP Serpent/OP Bulldog, so I am not familiar with the Blitzkrieg.
Firepower looks good, it is only lightly armoured for a medium mech but with a decent turn of speed that should make it harder to hit and allow it to get in behind the opposition units it certainly looks like a Hollander III. My only concern would be the lack of range for the Ultra AC/20, I would prefer the range of a Gauss Rifle.

I prefer some of the variants of the older mechs popular in tournaments for 3025. For lights the Jenner mounting just Medium Lasers and the Mongoose. For Mediums the PPC Cicada, and the Wolverine (Kurita Variant). For Heavies I like the 3025 Grasshopper and Guillotine and Warhammer Mounting just Medium lasers and PPCs. The Atlas and the upgraded Charger used by Kurita that uses an AC20 and LRMs are my favourites.
I also like the Cataphract and Caesar mechs, as well as the Phoenix Hawk - especially the latest batch which have some exceptional tech upgrades.
Speaking about upgrading mechs, we have an Assault mech used by a gamer in my local Battletech group, who has been running it for the last 6 years over 4 campaigns and has not had to do much more than replace armour, weapons, some internal structure, and some engine crits now and then. I can not believe the ammount of damage his mech has caused and how many times he has pulled us out of the frying pan and away from the fire.
It is a standard Charger 1A1, that has had TSM added, the heatsinks reduced and upgraded to doubles. It originally had IS Medium Pulse Lasers, but now has Clan Medium Pulse Lasers and an ECM Suite. I think the Armour has been upgraded to Fero Fibrous to save on tonnage. It is a nightmare to go against when used in support of the rest of our mercenary company, which by now has 3 Clan, and 4 IS Omni-mechs, filled out by regular IS Mechs and supported by IS and Clan Battle Armour.

Got to be the Awesome AWS-9Q.
Why? Because its Awesome. A true Brick of a Mech that has no weak spots. No XL Engine to worry about ECM, 4 x PPC that can safely fire in a 4/4/3 combo without having to worry about heat.
After that maybe the Ostscout OTT-10CS variant because it is just so fast. A good Mech to compliment an IC3 system

Glass Spider tops the list for me - both the standard variant and Glass Spider 2 are simple and effective, and the standard engine makes them a bit harder to kill than the average clan mech. Unfortunately I find the currently available model doesn't fit the artwork for standard Glass Spider, so I'm slowly sculpting up my own figure as close as possible to the current artwork.
Mad Cat MkII is definitely up there as well. Wasn't that much of a fan of the original Timber Wolf but when the MkII came out, just one look at the appearance and configuration of the mech instantly ticked every box for me. Feel it embodies the idea of the Mad Cat and mechs in general. And all that was before I saw the fluff describing how the MkII sees most use within my favourite clan, the Nova Cats.
Other than those, Shadow Cat, Ice Ferret and good old Nova are amongst my top mechs.
Oh, and favourite IS mechs are definitely the Rifleman and Locust.
