Full Version: Advice Wanted: Which armies to keep?

Like many of us out there I've got too many armies on the go at one time. They'll never get painted or played with armata_PDT_10.gif . I've decided I'm limiting myself to six. I've got 2 completed, 1 near completed and 1 unpainted that I'm keeping because my daughter loves dinosaurs (you guessed Lizardmen). That leaves me with 4 unpainted and two spaces.

Keepers:

Ogres
Orcs and Goblins
Dwarves
Lizardmen

Do I keepers:

Warriors of Chaos
Vampire Counts
Bretonnia
Wood Elves

So, my question(s) is... which two armies should I hold on to? Which of the 4 "do I keepers" provides the most fun, tactical difference to the others and painting/modelling opportunities?

Looking forward to your answers!

from the listed armies you are keeping brets woodelves and vc play the most differently... woc getting a book in july/august (most likely august).

Woodelves are an avoidance army, pick off small things and keep dodging, brets a cav heavy force with steadfast hits hard on the charge but soft after, and vc is a grind fest....

choices depends on what appeals most too you but woodies wood have the highest learning curve imo might be goodd bassed just on that.

If you wait about 6 months you should have a better idea on the Warriors of Chaos as they're apparently going to be released this Spring - might be worth reserving judgement for a while?

If Vampires aren't in your definite 'to keep' so soon after being updated, I'd say dump them. At least the other three are expecting books at some point so may perk up your interest more.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

True, the Lizards and Chaos are very similar in play - this may change with the new rule book but I can't them moving beyond the block of hard units supported by magic. So, maybe drop the Chaos...

Leaves me with VCs, Woodies and Brets. I have started playing more and more historical, so may end up doing a proxy Bretonnian based around 100yrs War or WoTR.

I haven't really played VCs since they were generic Undead back in 3rd so I like the fact that you can have Necromancers as gernerals agains. Hmmmm... still thinking!
