Now, im not sure if its because ive been drinking but im looking at some display bases and am wondering whats going on.

Are these wooden display bases for miniatures, or are the little black things on the bottom actually display bases for blocks of wood?

Like... do you actually stick a miniature on top of that wood block? Or what?

I am so very confused.

The base of the miniature fits on top of the wood grain pedestal, there are normally sizes in conjunction with 40k and fantasy bases.

Personally i get mine from a chinese company called lion roar. They are very cheap, aorund 8-9 bucks for a similair item made of nice smelling rosewood. Their website, however, is all in chinese, if you want some, ill get my local hobby shop to order a few in and ill post them to you.

Do you have any photos of them? smile.gif

Im not really a fan of the huge wooden block ones though.

I kinda like these ones:

try places like spotlight or craft shops for display bases.

You have to remember the reason why these bases are big is because they are meant for larger scale historical models and so forth, where the size of the display base in relation to the size of the model isn't so different.

The pics Zordana shows are for sticking the model on top of the wood block...

What I have used and seen used is the old round wood blocks that used to fit under the old, old style light switches. They had a hole in the middle of them which is easily covered by your mini anyway.
They are still available around but take a bit of finding, try the favourite hardware store.
Zordana, the last two I bought were in 'Savva Da Money' (sorry guys it's a WA thing) but that was a while ago.

Were they anything like the one I linked to, waterloo?

Similiar. More straight up the sides with a slight curve at the top. Not as much side detail, know what I mean? Plain I guess you could say!

Ah ok I think I know the ones you are talking about smile.gif
