So there is at least one tournament left while 5 ed is still kicking here in WA. It is non comp (because its WA) and I thought it would be a good chance to try out my flesh tearer (blood angel) army. Missions are basically standard but with extra objectives on most of them, and bonus points for keeping your most expensive HQ alive or killing the other guys. 1750 points.
Not exactly ideal for BA with all tank shock off objectives, but at least I'll have melta guns for death or glory.
The core of my list, based on my models currently under construction:
Jump pack libby, shield, fear (125)
honour guard, jump packs, 4 x plasma (225)
priest with jump pack, power sword (65 - edit 90)
2 x 10 man assault squads, 2 x melta, 1 x fist in ea (235 ea)
1 x 5 man assault, melta, fist (125)
vanguard vets - can fit in 8, fist, 2 extra (so 3 inc sergeant) power weapons, 1 x fist, 2 x storm shield (350)
2 x dev squad ML all round (135ea)
Comes in at 1620, so 130 left to spend.
Options:
could boost 3rd assault squad to 10 man (have models)
third dev squad (need models)
boost VV to 10 so can be combat squaded
Second libby (there is only so many times 10 paladins can pass their "fear of the darkness" Ld test)
Could buy a typhoon land speeder - as much to turbo to contest objectives last turn
I don't own any vehicles at all... but willing to source one or two
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

"priest with jump pack, power sword (65)"
should this = 90pts?
By the way, if you have a lightning claw handy, it is statistically better and is the same points.
The vanguard use a lot of points. Do they return their value is what you have to ask yourself. 8 is good number. You really increase your chances of getting the assault away.

i know - vanguard cost about the same as termis, all things considered. For the same price I could have a deathstar in there. I'd also save points as with termis, I wouldn't put a jump pack on the priest or libby. With the VV... while I know 8 is a good number for the assault, another 60 odd points and I can combat squad them and hit two targets - with less likelihood though.
Also wondering what to spend the last points on.

I would drop VV points. Consider 5-6 with only 1-2 LC/Fist + 2 storm shields. The excess points will bump up the 3rd assault squad to 10 men.
I'd also get that 3rd Dev squad
Lib, JP, Shield + Lance
Honour Guard, JPs, 4 Melta
1 x priest, JP, combi melta (melta > cc weapons)
10 AM, 2 meltas, fist
10 AM, 2 meltas, fist
10 AM, 2 meltas, fist
6 VV, JPs, 1 fist, 1 LC, 2 SS, 2 Melta Bombs
Devs, 4 ML
Devs, 4 ML
Devs, 4 ML
=1750 on the nose.
I'd personally rather a 4th assault squad than the VV who never seem to do anything but that is your preference.
You could alternatively swap the VV out for 3 MM attack bikes and another priest.

The 3 MM attack bikes work well in a BA jump list. A libby giving shield to the guys in the open and then the bikes sit just behind popping transports. You end up with a fast moving bubble that can hand out pain. A priest or two and you can feel no pain your way across the board.
