Hehe yeah its the same ole ogre tyrant, but its my first 'proper' display base so I thought id share. A friend of mine actually made the wooden base.
Anyway here he is with his removable base:

Umm... not sure Jester. A friend gave me the ogre and the gnoblars were in the same package.

wereweevil, i dont know about making them better, but they certainly lend a little flair to the models
Eg, well... that's no good.

Very nice! I like all the metallics. Are you using ink washes, working up from bronze to silver, or a bit of both?

Can now... looks fantastic as usual.
Wasn't able to se your site either Zordana, so ISP must have been playing up?

Weird EG, I think the server does go offline for a few minutes every day or so. Occasionally it wont work for me, but it will, like, 20 seconds later
Thanks guys.
Morsla, the metals were done with the Brass metallics in the VGC range... im guessing there are gw equivalents.
Basically it was Tinny Bits highlighted with the Brassy Brass and Bright Bronze, then Bronze + Silver. I did a little more silver on the chain, not that you can even make it out in the photo
Then there were a lot of glazes (2drops vallejo glaze medium + brushload of ink + 3drops of water basically). I did some purple, green and dark brown glazes over the metals. Mainly dark brown.
Then I rehighlighted certain sections.
Edit: Sorry, I just called you Stan, Morsla. I saw the white of your nickname and for some reason thought you were spart.

I thought I recognised some colours - I've been doing the same, as I'm using the Vallejo paints too.
I haven't experimented much with glazes yet - mostly black and brown, although I'll be playing around with purple and blue on the next warjack I paint.

Lovely work. I'm loving the little touches, like the oak leaves on the base, the gnoblar and his unfortunate compadre, and the really "heavy" look the metallics have.
Very nice work indeed.

Very cool indeed, well executed. The only problem I have with the models is that there is no contrast between the different armour, so all kinda blends together. Nice model nonetheless.

Yeah I probably should have made the chain lighter. It is slightly lighter, but its very subtle, so I should have done more highlighting.
You get that

It's always nice to see display models done with REAL metallics. I'm almost sick of NMM, haha.
Well done, you've almost got me inspired to get a tyrant and paint it. My death guard have a lot of metal on them, so this might be an interesting side project. Hmm.
Great, more spending of money. Christmas does that

Hey Zord, I remember you saying that you use a mix of sand, pva and paint to make your muddy/dirty bases and then add extras from there....
Question...
Do you then highlight the muck once it's dry or do you simply leave it with the brown/natural highlights as the most it gets?

Cheers syn
Lemming, I do the slop mix when im basing multiple miniatures and cant be bothered mucking about. When I use the slop I dont bother highlighting it because I will usually cover it with little rocks and grass. Ill also use this method for very large display bases (like the one I did for tyrion).
Normally, however, I will organise the large rocks on the base, then use that cheapo $2 for 10 superglue on the base and sprinkle sand on it. Ill do this 2-3 times till I am happy with the thickness of the sand.
Once its
totally dry, I will base it in scorched brown (if I want soil colour), then, once dry, highlight by drybrushing with VGC Khaki then Bleached bone on the higher lumps of dirt..

Hey Zordana, thot looks particularly sweet,
i especially like the skin tones on the ogre, and the knoblar hanging off the sword. :-D
Also how do you build up the display base around the edges? Is there any tips to keeping it neat or what?

Not really, elvenmage. I just use the cheapo variety of superglue for my base building. I draw in superglue where I want my sand then I sprinkle the sand on. Once the sand is on, the glue doesn't move anywhere.

The superglue has the nib nozzle, so its like using a pen. You just have to be careful.

ah cool.
I always had a problem trying to get the right amount under the feet of the model.

same as always Zord, fantastic work, nothing more to say.

elvenmage, when im trying to get sand underneath the feet if there's a gap, ill put a droplet of glue nearby and use some thin wire to drag the glue under her feet, that way you wont get any glue on the actual model.
