Just made two test models for the alpha legion army i plan to do next year. Im adding GS to the hip, arm and shoulder joins to bulk them up and make them taller. Makes them look more threatening as all chaos marines should.

The one with the bolter was a very quick model, just trying to get the archaic look with what i had in my bits box, and trying out the scheme. its just regal blue highlighted up with scorpion green tongue.gif

So hows it look? Any tips? Thinking of going with the hydra/dragon theme and adding salamander type bits.

Stretching my brain to remember the GW paints, but have you tried Jade or Emerald Green? (Are those their names? The blueish greens) Not that those don't look good (but y'know, digifotos on a website) You might even consider a two-step highlight moving from Regal through Enchanted Blue (a 'warmer' blue) to the green.

Also, toss out 'highlighting' in favour of wet blending for a smoother transition. So maybe you have Regal Blue blended through Enchanted to Emerald, with a Jade highlight on the greener bits, and an Ultramarines highlight on the Regal bits?

Or not, if you're happy with your results.

That chaos marine looks massave comparasion. Great work mate, i'd give the jade green or scaly green a try. Fantastic colour.

Yeah ill have to try out the emerald green. But isnt it just pre-mixed algae colour? I can get algae colour easy, green+blue :-) I think ill stick to going up from regal blue, that way theres still the blue showing. I bought a box of berzerkers and 13th company today, 10 guys are converted, they look meaner whens theres lots. 30+ of these guys infiltrating should be good for the shock factor, and theyre only 16 pts each tongue.gif

Heres some better pics. Anyone got some tips on metal? Normal colours i generally know what to do, but i suck at metal :-( They look menacing enough? They could be bigger.

Metals: I suggest, boltgun metal, then 60 / 40 black ink / blue ink, then dry brush over it with chainmail, or mithril if you want a brighter look.
