I am looking to get into Classic Battletech/Mechwarrior and I am wondering if there is anyone based near me in North Western Sydney ( the Hills district to be precise ).

This looks like a great game and I am very keen to start but I would like to have a group of players locally that I can play against if possible

I tell you what, it is nice o hear somebody enthusiastic about Mechwarrior.

If I was in sydney, and I had my own car, I would take you up on that offer right now.

But as it happens, I live in canberra...

Sorry

I live in Campbelltown, and have a decent collection ranging from classic unseen, to some modern jihad and new terran hegmany mechs.

I have about 900 mechs vehicles infantry platoons and battle armour squads.

A mate of mine who is a Battletech devout fanatic (almost Word of Blake fanatical about it) lives in Hornsby and about 4 -6 of us play campaigns. I think the next campaign is the beginning of the Jihad. The games are always challenging.

At the end of the last game, we lost 3 NPCs a PC and 6 mechs, which we were able to get replaced (sort of) with battlefield salvage.

Wow that's dredging up some history!

And the record I've got about 300 odd units at last count myself (mechs, vehicles, infantry, battle armour and aerospace fighters) wink.gif

Well the offer is out there to anyone who wants a game. There is a great gaming shop in Campbelltown NSW called the Hall of Heroes, and they have 5 tables currently, with a separate table for 25mm WWII depicting the town in the last battle scene in Saving Private Ryan.

There are tables for Magic the Gathering players to sit around and such a varied ranges of miniatures and board games for those hard to find games. I am trying to convince Matt to stock Classic Battletech miniatures, providing he gets enough interest. He would stock it normally, except the postage costs are a nightmare, and only worth it if he gets a good group of us buying it.

So, if you want to organise something, I live 3 blocks from his shop and have lost of mech sheets, and can print off record sheets from Heavy Metal Pro. Let me know before hand, and maybe we can get a regular game going.

2 guys bought the new box set at the Hall of Heroes today. I ran them through the basics for the game, and they had a really good time. It was 2 mechs each totalling 80 tons, and level 1 with Gunnery:4 Pilot: 5.

One of the 2 guys said they came from the Hills district, and I was wondering if you were one of the 2 guys I helped today? If so, I had fun, and if you want to organise another game, then we can have another game on a Sunday. I can orgamise the Mech sheets, as I Heavy Metal Pro, and over 1000 mechs, tanks, infantry, Battle armour and vehicles (after 28 years collecting), so I can supply most mechs you would need.

Let me know if you are interested.

Happy to hear about the game of battletech at hall of heroes the other day deb.

I'm getting my box soon and will then start to look at games, Sunday may be an option for me so if I get down there I'll look to play a game to start getting in the swing.

I will post here later in the week once I know my weekend commitments.

Great, I often go to "The Hall of Heroes" (second home). I will be away at my brothers wedding in Toowoomba on the weekend of 29th/39th April, so I will not be there for that, and I will probably be there this Sunday. I check my private email address more than I do this forum/website, so I will PM it to you.

I only get time to play on weekends because of work now. Every now and then I play with a few friends, most of whom used to run or go to the MOAB Battletech event when it was being run. If you want to organise something between Ocelot who lives in my area - Campbelltown, and myself then I know we can organise the game boards, and a force. We have access between us to print out datasheets, and although Ocelot has not played Battletech for a while, I know he is a very tactical player in other games systems we use.

I know I am not a stickler for models being painted having to be the exact model, etc, and like to have fun gaming, even when I am getting my butt kicked.

Asmodean and myself still play from time to time as well.

Any games of battletech is a good thing!
