For those of you looking for an online supplier for this stuff, I found one site in Oz:
http://www.branchline.com.au/products/inde...egoryserial/484
Here is a link to some pictures of the products... only a few though.
They aren't as thick or deep as I wanted, but you can't always get what you want.

I have no idea what the shipping costs are, have to email them I guess.
Oh and if you do decide to order, keep an eye on your cart because its one of those sites that likes to throw several items into the cart when you only clicked on one. I added 1 crazy paving to the cart and ended up with $1500 worth of crap in there

Nice find Zor. Looks like they've got a storefront too. Not that far from me so I might go check it out. It's a bit annoying they don't have pics of all the stuff. I like the crazy paving but I'm looking for something very specific for my new Marines & I'll have to see if they have it.
They're a tad more expensive than my local store, varies between $7.95 and $8.95 a packet. So check out your local store for them before trying the online option - for those that don't have a local stockist it becomes a viable option.
BTW Zor - what do you mean by not as thick as you wanted?
Cheers,

The only other plasticard I seem to find is the evergreen stuff and they never have any of the patterns I want.

This stuff can be got from Hobbies in the Hills in Castle Hill Sydney, you will have to order a lot of the patterns in though, I was looking at them yesterday (co-incidentally), and they mostly have the paving sections there.
Try your local hobby shop, they should be able to get some in for you, and you can check with prices.

Evergreen scale models
is the correct name of this company. Their products are stocked in quite a few places here in Brisbane.
What dimensions are those Wills textured sheets btw?

I just phoned the people at Branchline, they were very helpful, but don't appear to be able to send me copies of any of the Material. I bought one pack from my local hobby shot (Hobbies in the Hills), product SS MP 208, York Paving Stone, which I am using for a floor in a ruin.
He also suggest SS NP 228, which seems to suit a dry stone wall. I will probably pick that up from them
Of course my local hobby shop proved to be most unhelpful. I can thoroughly suggest NOT going there, as the guy isn't interested in getting your money at all. I asked if he has a catalgue of the Wills stuff, he doesn't, I asked if I could order specific parts in, he wasn't interested, he said a rep came and occasionally restocked the shelves. I asked if I could talk to the rep, and he said, sorry, thats not for the public. Most unhelpful, my last visit to that place.
Anyway, here is the one I got:
the sheets measure 3" by just over 5" or 75mm by 131mm

having a chat to my local hobby shop (most helpful place on earth, to contrary of cryomax) and he has suggested an idea most helpful...
to make bases using this plasticard, cut it to the base size, then use a resin kit to cast them up easily and more affordably....
also, he lets me use the old samples of the platicard sheetings (he gets a new set in every financial year) and it has about 150 2" by 3" samples...
@ cryomax - that stuff looks very nice indeed, how much did it cost?
EDIT: sorry cryomax, i'm an idiot

I assume you mean me
I am not saying all Hobby shops are not that helpful, just Hobbies in the Hills in particular. It was $8 for 4 sheets at the size above.
(in fact I have found this shop to be the exception rather than the norm)

Hey cyro, could you be a darl and take a photo of that with a miniature on top so I can get an idea of the size of the stones?

Pretty please?
And what brand is the one you bought? Wills or Evergreen?

Looks mighty appealing as a base texture for my upcoming Inqusitors.
Let me know if you manage to find a more effective stockist or if your local does mail orders (With your report they don't sound as if they would).

Best bet is the site Zordana posted above, in Victoria, they seemed very helpful. I am thinking of just doing an order to see what I can get, OR, putting in for an order of the catalogue frome the UK for $12.

Ah so they are the wills ones? Cool.
I might put an order in one day, the stones look like a nice size.

Mar 5 2005, 06:20 PM
Yeah some of them however, do get to be a bit small, mostly the brick stuff. I will be getting some more of them, photographing all of them and sending back any which don't suit what I am doing, so look for an update in the next month or so here.

You could try this place:
http://www.slatersplastikard.com/
the O scale stuff suits the same size as out figures, only our figures are more exagerated.
http://www.slatersplastikard.com/Plastikar..._plastikard.htm
7mm stuff on this page should suit. I am thinking of getting the sample pack in and taking pictures of each sheet, but it costs $30. I suppose I do get one of each sheet. Alternatively, I am casting with Hirst Moulds now

I wanted some of this stuff for doing a display base but a 60cm by 40cm multilevel display base can get a little pricey.
cyroMAX
Apr 3 2005, 09:03 AM
Go for Hirst moulds then, though it will make your display base a little heavier...
Blue Cypher
Apr 3 2005, 05:31 PM
The Hirstarts stuff is too heavy plus the bases on the models need to match up to the display base. I'm actually opting for thin card and polystyrene for the diplay base with the card on the bases to match the board. Cheap, light and readily available. After a coat of pva it should be fine. It is however a lot more work.
