Hi all,

I might be coming across a sizable portion of space fleets for the game BattleFleet Gothic. I was wondering how many people play this game in the Melbourne area and where you play it?

thanks

Nobody plays BFG in Melbourne? This thread only has 3 views, maybe no-one visits this part of the forum sad.gif
Kn'Thrak
There are some of us who play occaisionally out in Beaconsfield.
Nightgash
Thanks for replying to my thread. Alas beaconsfield is much too far away as it is way over the other side for me living in Romsey (near hanging rock).

I have an ork fleet. Couldn't tell you how many points it's worth as I don't have a rulebook. I haven't played for years either, but I enjoyed playing when I used to. I live in Sunshine if you want to try and organise a game at some stage.
Nightgash
Sunshine is not too far from me compared to Beaconsfield armata_PDT_11.gif . I have been re-reading the rules and it seems like a great game. I will probably buy the new 1.5 edition rule book as the one I have only has the original spacecraft.

The fleets I have bought are coming from the USA

A Chaos, Imperial Navy, Space Marine, Dark Eldar and Eldar fleets. Enough for big fleet engagements anyway! Look forward to playing you when it gets here.

Well, I have a Chaos fleet, and a couple mates with a Necron fleet and Tau fleet respectively. I'm in Footscray, moving to Werribee in a month. Brad, with the Necrons, is also in Werribee. Dave is in the north of Melbourne somewhere, with Tau and I think some old Imperials tucked away.

We used to play regularily on wednesday nights with Aaron, but then we switched to Mordheim, then D&D, which I think we'll stick on.
Plaguelord Baldric
That would be good. I will need to read the updated rules too though. I only have original release ork ships and have made rocks and a hulk to go with the fleet.
Nightgash
Great heavy shift16, good to hear lots of fleets in and around Melbourne. Isn't Aaron (dabigboss) living in Perth now?
heavy shift16
Yeah, he was the guy doing that road trip of gaming with his son a little while back, on their way there.

My fleet is only partially painted, I'm rusty on the rules after not playing for a month or so, and I don't really have the time because we're busy looking for a house and then moving into once we find one, but I'd still love a game if you pick up that fleet. The campaign rules were fun, but we never really got far into it, as two of our players inconsiderately moved away, leaving us with half a group and no garage to play in anymore... sad.gif

I'm sure there are a lot of BFG gamers out there that have fleets tucked away. I can't wait to get to Grots club as they have 4 people who play BFG and are going to have a campaign this year.

Unfortunately Kn'Thrak and his friends who play BFG live too far away from me sad.gif but I'm sure if we could some how meet up sometime and play. We have to somehow convince the 40K community to get into BFG. What better way to support your army by buying it its own spacecraft...

I have also got some ork ships on the way laugh.gif

Damn straight, I just got me Tau fleet and you had to move to Perth. Im still crying over that.

Oh well at least my dice rolling has improved (saying that, it will now go back to its usual standard).
dontshoot

Nightgash
Hey dontshoot what suburb to you live in?
fleetlord
Hi, I am new to BFG! I want to find players in the Melbourne area. I have 1500 pt Imperial and 1500 pt Necron. Neither fleet has ever been involved in any game yet tongue.gif BUT I AM DYING TO PLAY! I live in Eltham by the way.
Nightgash
Fleetlord you are in a perfect position to go to the GROTS club as they play BFG and are in Eltham. I am going to be going this year to play and hopefully participate in a Campaign.

BTW are you the guy that beat me on ebay bidding for the 6 imperial transports!! armata_PDT_11.gif
fleetlord
LOL, yes Nightgash tongue.gif The auction was funny.. because my max big was 1 dollar more than the maximum bid of the previous bidder. At the moment I am familiarising myself with the rules, but I think the best way to do that is to play some games. What's your opinion on playing solo games to familiarise myself? Basically you GROT players are going to be a lot more experienced than me and I wouldn't want to hold up things.
fleetlord
By the way, the city Mindgames stores has some second hand BFG ships on sale in their bits boxes upstairs...
Nightgash
Hey fleetlord are the mind games second hand ships any good? Are they pricey or cheap?
fleetlord
I snapped up the good ones already tongue.gif There are some metal ones left, including an Emperor class battleship. The others are plastic with some of the antennas missing.
Nightgash
LOL trust you to get all the good stuff! How much were they selling the Emperor Class battleship?
fleetlord

I think the Emperor might be about 18 dollars.. can't remember precisely. It was primed with black paint. You could give them a ring.
Nightgash
Do you remember anything else that was there?

Some Imperial cruisers. I am sorry I don't know the specific kind. It was all Imperial stuff anyway. The guy who works there told me he hadn't had BFG stuff in for 3 years (I think he meant new stock) but last year he had two new Tyranid ships in the sale boxes on the gaming table (may have been the last of his BFG stock). It's worth checking there next time you're in the city. I will be in the city tomorrow, so I can make a definitive list of what he has and the prices if you like.
Plaguelord Baldric
It's always worth keeping an eye out on what Mind Games has. There second hand stock is uaually priced at half retail depending on supply and demand. If they have a lot of second hand stuff it is sometimes even cheaper.
