That looks nice Tom.
Is there any way you can crowbar in some technical servitors for the Techmarine?

Not bad Tom, is there a logic behind the cookie cutter marine squads?
Initial thoughts:
I like the fact that it's led by a captain/master.
and he's not tooled
something of everything
lots of marines
easy to use...yep, pretty clear roles for all units
covers all the bases...yep
tooled in any one area...nope
using Stu's gut feeling type thing a 3 depending on criteria I reckon this is a good example of what he calls a standard marine list. good fluff/logic/theme behind it could make it a solid 4
my 2c, but hey you asked

Thanks so far guys.
Yeah, Hagen theres alot of expensive toys in the list allready, i could try to swap the MM/HF speeder for some servitors, but the Techmarine usually operates with the Veteran marine squad, so I prefer to have him as an independant character.
Jonas, yeah, you could say cookie cutter, but its only 2 units, there just standard fire support units. What weapons load outs would you swap in for what I have? I guess for nearly the same cost I could swap a HB/Plasma for a Missile/Flamer?
Still, are you going to use stu's style comp to rate it? or are you going to use the system Kane provides and criteria that he sets?
I dont think Kanes system will be the same as Stu's, so Im going to pay close attention to the criteria that Kane sets and mark accordingly.
Cheers,
Tom

Tim,
Nice to see a list that represents the codex and is not totally geared to power gaming.
Well done.

For Mine I always read the TO's comp criteria scrupulously, I was just using Stu's system as a benchmark - right for Terracon, but not for Liber.
I don't reckon a flamer/missile, they seem an odd combo to me. maybe plas/missile for ranged or a melta/flamer for up close work/anti horde/rapid fire death, but I guess you want them to be all rounders, they are TACTICAL squads after all...hmmm...jury's out
And Rack, for what it's worth Buddha is a Tom

pretty decent all round list Tom, Agree with Jonas....I was searching for the landraider, but it wasn't there !
....surprisingly, the Liber system and the Gut feeling system are pretty close, having read ghetti's rant on the spirit of liber

AJ - wha???
Buddha - I like it looks pretty good.
2 duplications does not make a list "Cookie Cutter"!
Really love HB/Plasmagun combo, a personal fave!
Personally feel the the flamer/missile combo is ok if you're still considering it, not least because it was the "Standard" box options in 3rd ed and so seems a fluffy combo for that reason. Ppl will say it lacks focus but I think it is versatile and a bit of versatility with marines is often a good thing, particularly if it's just one or two squads. They can help out in a melee or they can help out in a firefight (Vs Hordes OR Armour)
I'd be mightily tempted to run one of those rhinos as 9 man and allow the Techhy to hitch a ride.
Very nice marines, great to see some rhinos and tanks, at least 8/10 usually higher. I like that you took actual disadvantages, a drop pod might have been handy, as may extra termies or a Dread. But probably stick to 8 at Liber (Unless all the lists we're seeing are actually serious and that pattern continued, then you might get a lift to 9)..

Thanks for the comments guys, cheers Alex.
Yeah, tried to do something with some different units, and a balance of all the force org slots.
Looking forward to finish painting it now

why havent you used the iron hands traits if they are an iron hands successor chapter?
the list itself is good, id defiantly give the master the no instant kill thing (no codex with me

) otherwise he will die to easily, believe me i had my lord for iron warriors exactly the same for a while

Dave, the fluff behind it is that they are like the Crimson Fists in that they diverge from there founding chapter due to disagreements in the operation of the chapter.
The White Hands believed that the Iron Hands hierachy was too heavily influenced by the Adeptus Mechanicus and that by sacrificing parts of themselves and adopting mechanical replacements to many parts of there body like the Iron Hands do, is dis-honoring the Emperor's spirit, because the Emperor exists in all his Sons. Because of this, they operate differently tactically and in there force structure to that of the Iron Hands, they use machines in conjuntction with there divine body's, rather than incorporating them.
I have some pretty good fluff written up for it

excellent....the return of trooper graham.
(sorry, this is my pick on Tom week)
don't sweat the identical squads.....only two.....and really what else is logical to give to them.
Hmmm, prehaps the Russ should get upgraded to a demolisher...

Hey Tom,
Running a Master w/ Thunder Hammer, he needs the adamantine mantle, it strikes fear into dreads, wraithlords and Bloodthirsters!
You also have plenty of anti-infantry shooting, maybe swap a H/Bolter for a M/Launcher in one of the tac squads, to allow more flexibilty with anti-vehicle shooting
Other than that its a nice list

Cheers guys,
Ohh, I forgot to mention as well,
The trait that limits Dreads and Terminator Squads, is 'Aspire to Glory', another drawback is it also means no Artifacts are used either, the chapter is new, that means Adamantite Mantle is not available.
Should of mentioned that.
No Stu, Trooper Graham is absent sunshine
Yeah, swap to Missile/Plas might be a go, more I think about it the better it sounds.
Cheers all,
Tom

Why Tom... where have all the bikes gone?
Buddha
Mar 1 2007, 08:26 AM
Shippy ya big clown

The bikes have moved on mate, they still have alot of vehicles and are generally a fast moving army, but the bikes are no longer.
Just couldnt make it work very well, I didnt have the bikes to go 'all-bike' and then the 'bike-vehicle' hybrid army is nearly just as fragile and made games a chore. I recall games like SACon trying to play against your 2 Demolishers, or when Gilesey's 2 pie plates took out 8/15 bikes from inderect/direct fire in turn 1 before I even moved @@
Cheers,
Tom
