Ok everybody,

After looking at another thread that GameChick posted I was inspired to start a thread where we could all post our first ever model that we painted.

If you can bare the walk of shame that is. Sorry if a similar thread exists already and I dont know.

We all have one, and most of us probably sucked at such a point. Post them up and give a brief run down on the paint scheme.

Here is my first ever Chaos warrior



Basically I was heading for a nice retro theme, dressed in red cashmere by Carson from queer eye for the straight guy this chaos warrior is sure to be the envy of any manly chaos warrior regiment.

My first model, a valhallan sergeant, has been repainted twice now, so can't show you pics anymore.

Forever lost in time... hmm I dont think ill be repainting the Queer Eye Warrior it has that special... um touch of character...

My first 3 painted mini's were sold with an army I did. I do still have the 4th mini I painted lying around. Might be able to dig it up if that will do.

This is one of the them, not the very first but I started in primary so god knows where they are now, but I still have this one. He served under the mighty Nagash during 4th ed. when I was 12-13 yo.

Yep that will do, thats probably my 2nd or 3rd model anyway.

If only my original combat squad still existed.

A squad of 4 ultra marines lead by a blood angel painted with enough paint to make them resemble a lump of play-do.
They had more special rules and background then anything I've ever seen and yes, I was Ten at the time.

They, along with the Legion of whatever we feel like (My first chaos army) are lost to time... I'll have to see if I have an old photo kicking around...

My first ever painted miniatures were the old 15mm minifigs greek hoplites and peltasts that came on strips of 5.

I painted them outside using house paint (thanks, Dad) and brushes from art class.

They might still be somewhere under my parent's house.

LOL my first mini was an old space crusade ork that i painted when i was five. (sorry no pics as i have long sold the set that the fig went with (i have like 10 sets)). I'll have a look and see if i can find the first fig i painted when i actually knew what it was i was painting.

This is the 4th mini that I painted. It is also the 2nd mini I converted.

That's actually not half bad Baldric, very "2nd Ed" feel to it but it's actually well done for such an early conversion.

I didn't start converting models until I was *sure* I'd be able to do what I wanted.

Well that actually looks pretty cool Baldric, I dont think many of us where at that standard when we first started painting...

Thanks guys. I think I started off so well because I received alot of painting advice from Dave Taylor before I actually started painting.

He was stationed in the Melbourne store when I started and spent about 2 hours talking me through various painting techniques when I bought my first models.

Yea thats going to help fosure, I could still do with a good sitting down and stirn talking to..

Not entirely sure what my first model was, however what I will contribute form the same period, probably first 40K models by myself and Lemmingspawn...

Thats really tempting me to do a platoon of converted beastmen for my Imp Army...

I believe there's a WD abhuman doctrine for something like that.

my first mini was a space amrine which i painted using paint by number water colourse from one of those cheap as cheaps 2$ fricking painting set things..its always a picture of butterflys or a kittne or something...any it looked.......different. no pics sorry...this was a long time ago......i wonder where he is now

OK, these wernt my 1st painted models, that was some ash grey waste and purple marines I names the Emperors Scythes (little did I kow the Emperors Scythes actually existed) they were pianted very thickly, so thick the paint cracked in the joints lol

Here are 2 models I painted many moons ago, about 10 years ago, one is obviously a necromunda ganger the other is a conversion for a game my friends made up called BuggyBash (about 1-2 years later GW came out with Gorka Morka)




The snotling was the driver and the lobotomized 'Pete Rock' was the gunner......pretty poor paintjobs arnt they

Well, here's the first mini I painted over 20 years ago at the tender age of 8!

Complete with two decades of wear'n'tear (and looking suspisciously like Bree Amer these days) it is mounted on a "special display stand" I made in woodwork at high school.

Mail-ordered all the way from the UK from an ad in White Dwarf magazine, it's an Essex Miniatures Female Fighter that I painted with my Humbrol Enamel paints. Needless to say I paint much better these days, to the point that I've had constant commission work for years. Humble beginnings, eh?

My second model was a Citadel Orc Archer and was 200% better.

I really lament trading him away years ago when me and my mates started playing Warhammer and consolidated our miniature collections into races then distributed the armies between us.

Never fallen off, but the paint is chipped.

actually you made me remember 2 models I painted in the 80's

I used to paint model planes but I picked up 2 mini's and tried to paint them for some reason, one is a cleric the other is Drake from Aliens (or supposed to be )

They are very chipped from sitting in my bitz box for many many years

You should check out DreadWolf's big sale list he's just posted in the BSS Forum... so many olde 80's models in there, my head is spinning from the nostalgia!

Come to think of it, Aliens Vs Predator on PC has a minigun in it, but i dont ever recall seeing one in any of the series. Except predator...

I remember my first ever model. It was a goblin from lord of the rings
No Undercoatd, big blob of green o the head, swipe of silver on the armor.

And then I wanted to quit If i hadnt listened to the modelers advice I would have NEVER lernt.
