WIP on the River and Bridges:
these river sections will fit a Y shape in them as well as sit all three across 4' of table. They are being built to travel.
What are they made of:
Craftwood base, with craftwood banks, a small amount of sand and some water based resin.
The bridges are made using pre made railway bridges, made by Atlas, and available in Hobby shops in Australia for under $15. All bridges have to be modified to be made large enough (8" wide, 10" across).
This is the base river section, with a collection of half done banks siting on it:
A mostly completed river bank section, I need to hit the outside of the peice with a sander to slope it up to the banks.
All three straight sections together:
How wide is an 8 inch bridge? Here it is sitting on the river, currently its just the sides and a plasticard frame, on which I will be laying balsa wood planks. I will be building up the sides using blue foam to give it bases on either side of the river. These bridges will probably be used for 40k as well, and the tank drivers will love them
Close up details on the bracing I put across the bottom of the bridge. Pre made plastic card I beams. They really gave the structure a lot more strength.
Uh Oh, the plate girder bridge was one peice!!!!!
30 minutes later, I had carefully cut off one side... this would have been a lot quicker but I am trying to save the bed sections to use for infantry sized bridges.
Thats it for now, more updates to come.
