A little bit of Fluff
The Daemons of Blood were a task force of the Blood Angles ‘The Angels of Blood’, formally given chapter status after the Heresy. They were a rapid response and recognisance force based out of Cygnus Delta in the Perion Sector. Their responsibility was to monitor orc activity in area and to maintain the balance of power amongst the orc tribes via tactical assaults. Not long before the 13th Black Crusade a disturbing report from Cygnus Delta came in that the Angels of Blood had turned to the dark gods. Reportedly their joy for killing had left them open to the allures of the dark gods. Their lust for battle had corrupted them. Initially they killed orcs for the Emperor over the years this turned into killing orcs for themselves and latter for chaos God Khorne. Soon orc blood was not enough to sate their hunger and they turned on the residents of Cygnus Delta but not in the way you would imagine. They simply let the orcs they were supposed to keep in check build up a WAAGH and attack the imperial colony, using their precision assault tactics to take out key Imperial defences the orcs slaughtered the citizens of Cygnus Delta. From this time onward they have been known as the ‘Daemons of Blood’.
New fluff can be found latter

Seeing pics makes me want to say that your Rhino and the marines that ride it could do with some highlighting. Other than that, it is quite fantastic, and the finished daemon prince really needs to be put it, it's fantastic, competition worthy in my opinion.

Yeah it is a carnisaur. I used to use it as a juggernaut for my Berserkers, it realy made people painc. As for the Rhino it does need a highlight or two. But for the time being I am pretty happy with it and I think the time could be better spent painting up some of the 90% of my models that are not painted

I just want to say that everything looks much better in the flesh, so to speak. The standard marines dont look nearly as flat in person. I'd say it was the flash doing something funny to it.
Looking good Rob!

Thanks Asher,
The flash does do something funny to it but you expect that when taking photos, I am happy that you are able to see anything at all. Well just a small update. With the new codex finaly in my hands I am trying to make units legal, so my old khorneate possessed with daemonic flight, are now raptors, which means I am adding more (another 5) this time with an icon, a melta and a flamer. I was quite happy with how the icon came out so a quick couple of pics...

I like the idea of scewering someone with your icon
Rojo
Oct 9 2007, 01:24 PM
Nice. I think it would look a little more natural if he was holding the icon a little higher up, as it looks quite top-heavy, but do to the effort it would take, I don't think it would dramatically change the model. It is a cool pose though.

A new bit of Fluff
Of the first founding chapters still loyal to the god-emperor the Blood Angels hold special reverence, for their Primarch stood by the Emperor when few would and for his unwavering loyalty payed the ultimate price. However they hide a dark secret, their gene seed has been steadily degrading with newly formed Blood Angels becoming more prone to the red thirst. When the Blood Angels were broken up into their many successor chapters each successor chapter took the blood curse with them. This was particularly true with the Angels of Blood; the flaw was so prevalent that at their first conflict fully a third of their number joined the death company. And as each Angel of Blood died and was reborn anew the thirst for blood grew worse and with increasing numbers of new recruits the problem soon got out of hand.
In the search for an answer, the librarians of the chapter searched every possibility for a cure; in the end in was Librarian Alberash who brought about the end of the search. After decades of combing every reference to the blood curse he could with the chapter’s libraries he looked at more dubious sources. It was during this time that Alberash became aware of the blood god, but more importantly it was during this time that the blood god became aware of Alberash. Khorne offered Alberash a deal he could not refuse; if he gave Khorne but a small part of Sanguinius’ blood from the Sanguinary Priests he would make it that No Angel of Blood would ever see Sanguinius’ death at the hands of Horus. Obsessed with finding a cure, Alberash did not consider the possible ramifications. When Alberash discovered the true price of his involvement he was wracked with guilt and sought to seek penitence. It was at this point that Alberash was visited once again by the presence of the Blood god and offered one final choice; be rewarded for his obedience with daemonhood and loose his psychic powers or be punished for his insolence and turned into a spawn like the rest of the chapters librarians. He Choose the former. This one act sealed the fate of the Angels of Blood; from this point on they would forever be known as the Daemons of Blood.
Now when a Daemon of Blood enters the black rage and sees the death of their Primarch through his eyes it has a much more sinister message. They see themselves in Sanguinius’ body confronting the Warmaster Horus; they see themselves convincing him to cease his attack and come back to the loving arms of the emperor. They see themselves turning around to find and inform the Emperor. The War is over. They are startled to see the Emperor before them a grim look of determination on his face. Before they can get a word out the Emperors face becomes a cruel mask and they feel a punch to the stomach, looking down they see the Emperor’s sword wedged to the hilt inside of them. As the sword is wrenched out and their life’s blood leaves them, the pain of betrayal is too much to bear and the vision ends…
This drives their hatred of the emperor and all who follow him.

Well this is a trial list for Arc, Now on an aesthetics point of view I would love to put the bloodletters in there; however I just don’t know what I can take out to make that possible. 5 of them would be just 65 points, and an extra 5 for an icon for the berzerkers. I might be asking for too much as there are 7 scoring units already.
Well there should be updates on the way, as I need to have this ready by Australia day.

Well, Arc is not that far away now, so I have to get into gear. My lattest contribution are my new more dynamic Raptors. So I have thrown away the painting I have done on 5 of them, cleaned the mold lines, bore out the gun barrels, gave them better posses, and made them more dynamic. I have a full 10 done now, and have the 8 I am going to take to arc undercoated, the other 2 will get done latter. So these pics will give you an idea of what I have done.

I will get around to painting them once I have finished the Chaos Predator I am working on. It was one I bought of ebay, that has been put together poorly, and even though it only had 1 colour on it the paint was think. So I have a lot work ahead of me pimping it out. Fortunatly I play chaos so a loss of some detail is not such a big problem and it was cheep.

Rojo theseguys are going to that good evil paint sceam to gave me the idea for. except maybe the Asp champs (sorry bear with me - waked out of presription drugs) I have a couple of pics but I warn you they are not very good and don't show a lot as the pred is in pieces.

Well I plan on making things a little more fun for the oposition because as parts of it are destroyed that can be moved and look pretty,m also plenty of dammane, dirt and blood are going to be on this bad boy.
If you are wondering why ther are blue dots all over my keyboard and would like to do the same to yours. We simply grab a bottle of Vellajio that has a blockage at the end, and remove said blockage by squessing the paint as hard as you can

This was my first time with weathering anything. Does anyone have any pointers on how I can do it better next time. I am always trying to improve myself, So I would love some suggestions. All I did to get this weather effect was to drybrush some scorched brown onto the areas around the tracks.

What times (that you are unlikely to be buisy) are you working after the new year? I might see what I can do.
In the meantime, I will be driving from Melbourne - Sarsfeild - Eden - Buchan - Philip Island - Melbourne during that period, whith Christmas, a Wedding, a brithday party and New years to celebrate at the stops. So I don't think I will have any time to work on the army untill the new year.
And Voyager, I will keep an eye out. What exactly is a weathering kit? Scratch that I will goggle it

The ones I got are located here:
Tamiya Inc. I got the Weathering Master Set A and the Weathering Pen (Sand) since I'm trying to do a desert scheme. I figure I paint it simply like it came out of the factory, then use the weathering pen for my treads, and the set to dust the skirts, footprints on the hull, etc. My other half thought I'd bought makeup initially, although her inevitable inspection got me out of potential hot water.

Well Arc is ever getting closer. So I have got my but into gear and done a prototype of the raptors, I am happy with it so I have started on the rest of the squad now.

Now on a completly different note. My wife go me the most awsome X-mas prezzie ever. A remote control battle tank that fires BB pellets. It is a fair bit larger then a baneblade.
Rojo
Jan 9 2008, 05:09 PM
Good to see some more models, Rob. I have to say the Raptor doesn't seem up to your usual standard, there is a red smudge on one of the shoulderpads and the chest plate, ALTHOUGH, the head does look quite nice. The base looks nice, just needs a little touching up in my opinion.
What I really don't like is the thought of that RC tank being used as a mobile, projectile cannon weilding Baneblade. No thank you.

I have that RC Tiger as well. Got if of ebay for a very good price. Unfortunately whilst trundling through the grass with my 3 year old in control, he ran too fast over some bricks protecting a solenoid cover and it knocked a wheel pin loose. Looked good at the time. A classic M-Kill with the track bunching up. Still have to get round to fixing it but so many other models scream at me for attention too. 'The voices, the voices' LOL.

I am not sure if this is a complement or not? The "[/mocking sarcasm thing]" through me. Although if you didn't like it I would love to know why and how you think I could improve. I am sure there are many people who take one look at this and think "meh" and move on. They are the ones I would like to point out where I have gone wrong and point me down the right path.
Well, I have done the base bone colour on the other non Asp Camp charcters now. Although in this heat it is making it more "chalky" then usual. But with arc just around the corner and the rest of the stuff I have to do good enough will have to do. I am even thinking of setting my sights lower.
