Looking for criticism/comments. Does it need any thing done to it?
I think the yellow needs to be darker personaly, but apart from that I'm not sure.

Pretty darn good mate! I like the extra effort you've made on the shading at the bottom of the loincloth. armata_PDT_34.gif

Yes, a couple more thin coats of yellow should bolden that up nicely.

Have you painted the eyes? Thousand Sons benefit from nice soul-less glowing eyes. Perhaps bright blue, almost white?

Looks pretty neat, nice and smooth. I would recommend:

-Another 1-2 highlights on blue.
-A bit darker gold (as you suggest)
-SOMETHING to the bolter, looks pretty plain atm. Some more inking/washing, or paint the casing to break up the metal.
-Different colour/more obvious eyes.
-MAYBE some freehand on tabard?
-Paint the 'ribbing' in the arm/leg joints.
-I dont like the base at all. Is it grey and looks blue in the photo? Needs some grass or something, and if you are keeping that colour dont keep the rim of the base brown, doesnt match at all. Maybe black or dark grey, OR make the rocks/gravel more browny.

Hope they help make an excellent mini better!

Oh yeah, I meant to mention that. If your basing material is cold in tone, you shouldn't have a warm edge colour. So I would recommend a straight black edge personally.

Heya Steve - long time, no see smile.gif

Looking good - and I agree with Tyra Nid's suggestions.

Hi Drac,
I think the blues look good, nice and vivid, it needs to be matched by some bright yellows, I think the yellow is too washed out. For my TS I used a basecoat of fiery orange under the yellow. This gives a really rich yellow, from memory I used golden yellow with bad moon highlights. What metal is that? Sometimes hard to tell from pics. Try a basecoat of tin bitz, then your metal over the top, this should give a bit more depth to the trim.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks for the comments and ideas people. The photo's were taken by Gormath and are unfortunately a bit grainy. The little bugger looks a lot better in person (the miniature, not Gormath... he's ugly biggrin.gif )

Seer Master, I'd like to take credit for the great shaded loincloth, but it's just bleached bone and GeeDubb sepia wash... the best product they've come up with yet armata_PDT_34.gif

The eyes are painted hawk turquoise, but don't show up well in the pics.

Tyra Nid, the shading on the bolter shows up a lot more in real life.

The Base is to fit in with a city fight theme we've got going locally. I'll change it to grey and see how it goes.

DarkHorse, hi there matey... we'll see ya at JA. Haven't officialy entered yet, but there will be a Renmark crew there this year (I won't be using Scotts Space Puppys this year, so you should be safe wink.gif )

Steve, great tips from the fez himself. I'll try them out this weekend.
