With the imminent release of War of the Ring I've finally decided to start a LOTR army. After collecting all the LOTR magazines (I knew they would come in handy eventually) and having a copy of Return of the King I already had a sizable amount of Men of Minas Tirath so the answer was pretty obvious.
I haven't come up with a list yet, but so far based on the figures I have the army will be made up of:
Lots of Men of Minas Tirath (of course)
At least a unit of 6 Knigths of Minas Tirath
A unit of Rangers
A small unit of Clansmen of Lamedon
Small unit of Axemen of Lossonarch
Characters will be:
Aragorn
Faramir
Beregond
Cirion
As usual I will probably add things or take units or characters away as I change my mind.
I will hopefully have some pics up tonight of what I have done so far.

The company base sized are 8 for infantry & 2 for Cav so if you aim for these numbers it will work well for War of the Ring!!

Looking good so far, perhaps get some wash on the faces?
A bit OT, but those movement bases look mighty handy for imperial guard armies...

Been a bit slack on the painting side of things lately, damn work keeps getting in the way.
Went into the new GW Southland today and thanks to Castigo purchased a nice unit of Fountain Guard and some of the new bases to go with what I have painted so far. I have already based and painted one of the bases tonight and have made a start on basing my unit of Knights.
I know I say this a lot, but pics will be up soon, trust me

I have actually done some painting lately. Finished Beregond along with some more Men of Minas Tirith, also based and painted another of the new WotR bases. Making slow progress on the knights though

.
Had a bit of a squizz at the WotR ring book when a popped into GW Southland and it looks great, can't wait to get a game going.

Finally an update with pics
The finished Beregond (the base is a little scratched from getting him into the WotR base)

Archers

Spearmen

Swordsmen (the base is being done as I type, just waiting for the PVA to dry before I start painting)

Progress shot of the horses for the knights, I ran out of spray undercoating these suckers so I can't get too much more done until I get some more.

Enjoy

Are you using bits of gravel on the bases?
The effect looks very good from what I remember of the movies the men of Minas Tirith spent alot of time in the ruins

I was looking over the WOTR book at my LGS today and Minas Tirith have alot of solid choices for troops and Characters.
Knights of Dol Amroth both on foot and mounted kick butt! It's a pity they are all metal figures at the moment and I guess that probably will not change anytime soon.
I do like the horses running through the ruins and not on top of big rocks as I often see in blogs.
Horses don't run on top of big boulders very well.
Keep the painting coming. A few more weeks and I will have a WOTR diary of my own.

fmi1979

I do plan to add Forlong and Angbor, I already have a sizable unit of both clansmen and axemen waiting to be painted.
Well, Photobucket has decided to work so here are some more pics of the army:
My latest unit of Men of Minas Tirith (unfortunately I have run out of them so this will have to wait until I get some more)

The army so far (I can't take any credit for Gandalf the White that was all Uber Kroot)

OK well it's way too long since my last update, having said that though I have only really got back into painting this army in the last 4-5 weeks. Also managed to play a few games of LOTR with pretty good results, 2 wins and a loss (damn Harad archers!!!)
Anyway have a look, this is not everything as I have probably painted another 15 or so Warriors of Minas Tirith, seeing they all look the same I didn't bother taking any pics.
Cirion, probably not the best pic, oh well

Rangers

Did you use the wash and yellow or did you do the same technique as you did with cirion?

Look forward to a game sometime.

For the rangers it was bubonic brown followed by a griffon sepia wash then rehighlight with bubonic brown. With Cirion I used Desert Yellow then highlight with Bleached Bone (I think, can't really remember).
You'll have to put some pics of your Harad up on WAU, I'm sure you've probably finished them all by now.
Definately up for a game, could possibly do Saturday day if your not working or next weekend (if you not working).
