The Youngest and Encouragement awards were very fitting, these guys had only played half a dozen games between them, and they managed to win games, and had a great time.
There was also a Raffle, and an auction, all moneys raised went to Bush fire appeal.
The Auction was of a printing of Tiger 1e and Crew with Tiger Badge, all framed.
Luke Frankcombe, Jeremy & Mel Brodie, Scott Bartel all won raffle prizes. with a total of over $600 raised.
The venue at the Wodonga RSL and it was very good. All the RSL members were very interested, in what we were doing. Over all I give this a 10/10.

The Big Weekend was an 8 round 1750pt LW event held over the may long weekend.

We had 17 players for the tournament with 3 bye busting players.
Missions played were Free for all, Cauldron, Hold the line (with the attacker choosing the defenders end), Encounter, Breakthrough, No Retreat (from firestorm bagration), Free for all (with stormy weather) and Fighting Withdrawal.
This years event included things such as stormy weather causing reduced visibility, Mud in the encounter mission and a Fog of War effect that meant that all lists were closed. So ambushes and reserves etc were quite a surprise at times.

This is starting to look confirmed for me

QUOTE
Canberra ACT, Mind Games, 10 Jan 2009, MW,

now that look interesting... I could get 2 tourneys in! will need to rely on the kindness of strangers

would like to see a bit of the country, I don't drive but I'm good with busses, would like to come over for a couple of weeks, have some contacts in Melbourne, Townsvile and of course GenghisBoB, couple of points, would love to visit as many clubs as possable.

I have no idea of realitive distance in Aus, I live in Hamilton, smackbang in the middle of the north island, drive north or south and you run out of land in about 7 hours

I paint pretty fast(did my GT army in a week), so happy to be chained to a painting table for a couch to sleep on, happy to make it a painting/working/gaming holiday

what section of the forum should I put this in?

i really should get around to updateing things.

but 2011 is 22 to 24th of 2011.

Backslide, Melbourne is far enough from Brisbane that you might consider hopping a plane, because it'd take more than four days to go by bus.

I believe arc next year is LW firestorm market garden campaign 1500pts smile.gif

I havent been to a flames of war tourny yet and was going to go to that one but the people at my club that i would go with are a bit iffy because they havent been to a fow tourny either and it seems a bit more complex with the whole campaign thing.

Also they were a bit confused as to if you are "out of supply" how that will be fairly calculated for VP, it would suck to be the guy that plays all the "out of supply" battles.

any thoughts?

Ps. has anyone else stumbled on to the fact that FoW is the best tabletop wargame out there, battlefront really caters for everyone and isnt stingy, also there is a great online side to it with tutorials and alike.
GW needs to pull their finger out if they wanna keep up in my eyes tongue.gif

Whoops you are correct.

Out of supply does a number of possible things. it is all in the dice roll.

1. Higher moral
2. nothing
3. play with 20% less troops.

VP is always the same.

If you win a 6:1 and the troops are cut off then you can destroy them on a roll of 4+ other wise not much happens. Market Garden is a little different from Bragration, where you have air drops so you may not be put of supply at all. and it is possible to get a complete resualt in only 5 campaign turns.

is quite a neat system. Django has many years experience in play fow, so he will do it right..

but dont confuse this with a real Tournament, You do have some restrictions of what you can take here, like no Panthers etc. cause they are all coming from free troops Given to you. it is also very easy to play a game that is 2000+ points v 1200 points. We play market garden as a way to generate interesting matchups. And people playing this should do the same.
For a real tournament, where it is swiss chess, and best play wins, wait for either conquest or Junes Vic Champs.

Any news on the Vic FOW in June or Winter war yet?
thefloppy1
June is the normal

1500 Mid war, 5 rounds Sat, and sun of Queens birthdayweekend

Winter war is meant to be

1750 Late war, at the start of august. but we need to confrim dates with venue before that happens.
Truscott Trotter
Too late to book tickets and time off etc for Vic Championships and nothing on their website/forum or the FOW site, but I am in Melbourne on 12-14th August anyways so maybe I will finally get to go to Winter War - no details on the MK forums?
Munster
You could add
Wintercon ACT 12-13 June 2011, LW Market Garden Firestorm, 5 rounds
Boromir of Gondor
Is that the Queen's B'day weekend?
thefloppy1
