Hi all,
Gotten tired of PP and GW stuff and like the look of the models. Tried the official site and it was down, then tried the MetalForge forums and there down. What's happening with this system? I heard the Rackham has shut for a while and they shifted the system from metals to pre-paint plastics. Is it abandoned or can I still get product and info?
Thanks, MW

Hey.
I thought they may have shut down, but Warpuppy have some stuff here:
http://www.warpuppy.com/confrontation-c-51.html?osCsid=123id59i4j17q5arsp65ko1lo0
Warpuppy are well-known local Brisbane people and *really* good to deal with.

brief history
all the metals will no longer be produced. the moulds for them have been destroyed. why? i still don't know and can't understand why
the game was doing well with rule set version 3 and later advanced to 3.5
after that it was announced that rules 3 and 3.5 will no longer be supported in favour of going down the path similar to GW i.e. mass armies
confrontation was initially a skirmish based game though a mass army version did also exist at the time but very few people played it. the mass army system is called ragnarok.
fast forward...the metals were still going to be available but more focus will be on the ppp (pre-painted plastics) and the game reverted into mass army style play ala warhammer fantasy, much to dismay of the more seasoned players. this system is now known as age of ragnarok
most of the old guard, having felt like they got shafted by the company, chose to ditch them whilst some still remain.
at first it was planned that the metal range would still be available as a 'collector's range' for the seasoned hobbiest whilst still being able to be used in AoE. but then the bomb shell came much to the shock and surprise of everyone old guard and newbies alike....the metal models will no longer be available and the moulds have been destroyed.
so in short (though not quite likely since i've rambled this long) where you can get the metals or even find them, get them because once they're gone they're gone.
the main website is down as apparently they're restructuring their products etc.
the rule book for Confrontation 3 and 3.5 (C3 / C3.5 for short) can still be found. there are still players who still play C3/C3.5, its just a matter of asking on forums or local clubs that still have supporters.
personally i dislike ppp. the quality isn't as good as the metals.
not sure where the company is heading honestly.
at the moment AoE sells models in boxes of detachments. so you buy various detachments to form your army BUT this is most like to change as the last word i heard on the wire is this....detachments will no longer be available, instead they're selling them in battalions. the impression i get of this is the equivalent of GW's battleforce set. the same thing is being done to their sci-fi product known as AT-43 as shown here
http://www.frpgames.com/new/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=55129
not sure if any of this helps...thought i gave my two cents on the matter.

Hey Logrei!
What can you tell me about the Rackham Legends I saw on the warpuppy site?

Rackham Legends is/was what all the metals were going to be called so as not to confuse between the ppp and metals. Its also to cater for the hobbiest who were keen in both the gaming and modelling aspect of the game.
Rackham Legends was Rackham's promise that the metals will not phase out. Infact there was talk about some of the ppp being produced unassembled and unpainted ala GW's plastic sprues.
The Alchemist Aberation prime (the avatar pic for Dirz on the Warpuppy site) was THE first model produced by rackham that was in resin and is very detailed I might add.
Unfortunately the proverbial hit the fan and all metals are gone.
Now there's talk that some of the new release for the ppp will be released under the Rackham Legends banner. The models 'supposedly' to be released from it are the Dward Steam Golem, The Midnor Hydra, Undead Dragon / Dirz dragon and Flesh Golem.
So I guess stay tune to whatever's gonna come out from them

the Rackham legends in stock at WarPuppy will be all they have....
I've been sifting through them for a while now - picking up bits and pieces...
- so pretty much everything that's left there is the stuff I don't want.

I think the Aberation Prime is grey plastic not resin.
It is very nicely packed in a red felt/velvet container. And comes with alternate heads, chest plates, dorsal spines and arms for the various mutations.
Unfortunately it was also the herald of Rackham's downward spiral as it also come with both a round and square base. The square base was detailed like a laboratory floor from the Hybrid board game.
27Apr-TGN noted July2009 release dates for the COG & Redblock 2000pt armyboxes while Lion & Wolf army boxes are scheduled for September2009. Hopefully.

It is a brittle sort of plastic not as 'flexible' as the stuff GW uses now.
I think CryHavoc had a preview of A.Prime in a pale resin.
It will be interesting to see how the COAR version compares to the put together plastic one.
Was the normal metal Aberation ever released as blister pack or only with the Hybrid box ?

only in the hybrid box and metal. size wise i saw a pic a few weeks ago showing comparison and the metal is a lot smaller than the plastic.
brittle? how so?

The A.P.'s plastic feels a little stiffer than the current GW type. Not anything like the weird plastic used in the AT-43 figures.
The GW plastic slices & cuts well, I haven't tried do that with A.P. and there are no spure to test.
I want to assemble him with interchangable heads & maybe the alternate arm. The heads' stems need a cutting or filing to fit properly into the body.
.................
Purchased the COAR Aberration Prime from WarPuppy and it seems to be an assembled & painted version of the C3 plastic put-together model. In fact the plastic feels like that plastic too not the AT-43 start flexible Golem type. I'm in the process of adding some pink tones to the greyish skin and the paint takes to the surface quite well.
