Ok so after a fairly good result at MILF (gah i gotta stop saying that) i mean MIF (25th place) with my Slaanesh 40k army i thought it was time to return to the warhammer world and make a kickbutt awesome looking army for myself (apparently i dont play enough warhammer Fantasy according to some of my colleagues, i have my reasons which i wont disclose and some of my colleagues understand) so here we go again with another diary, i have 6 months to make this army possible and im targeting around the tournament 2250 mark.

The theme of this army is Nagarythe, remnants of the forces of Malekith that didnt join Malekith and stayed on Ulthuan, blends in with my Dark elves that are in mothballs at the moment too so lots of shadow warriors (around 20 in the army) Alith Anar, 2 mages 2 Units of Spearmen and archers and only 1 Unit of Ellyrian Reavers as the army is planned to be uber shooty..


So the first thing i made and ive always had this idea in my head of making a mage with a look of that angry im gonna turn you into a pile of goo look, i was going to do this for my defunct 40k army on a farseer but it never eventuated so ive decided to try it in this army. So after a bit of chopping, greenstuffing heres how it turned out:

Tonight I sat down and started painting this monstrosity, note these are WIP pics so nowhere finished but heres how its panning out..

So thats how thats panning out so far.. i plan to get the mage done by the end of the week at best and then slowly start onto the rest of the army.

Quick update...

Paining up Drishal very slowly at work when i have free time, tried lighting effects on the eyes and the mouth..

Unfortunately for the mouth it looked like she was ODing on a blue slurpee so i had to abort that and just do the eyes, looks ok but its no Golden demon standard.. damn lighting effects...grr

Done around 60% as i have the base, hair and gems to finish off.

Should be done by next week.

Hello all back again, this time with a finished model. Finally finished off Mage Dri'shal today heres how it turned out:

Oh while i was wating for the paint and stuff to dry on her i finished up my red corsairs lord for an upcoming event too heres how that turned out..

Now that the mage is out of the way im going to start with a command unit of archers (20 in size) thats my first task to work on , got to find an effective yet fast way to paint these buggers up so it still looks awesome but not rushed... well see how that goes.

Nice paint job on the Red Corsairs lord especially the face, looks great.

I'm not completely sold on mage, the paint job is faultless but the daemon head just doesn't seem to go with the High Elf look, it kind of looks a bit like an alien. Also whats going on with the mages left hand?

Been a busy day today, got my first regiment up and built today which is a unit of 20 archers with command.

Heres how they turned out (WIP needs paint of course!)



And the Champion (used the mages head from the mage box set to make it more unique, mind you need some green stuff to fill the gaps in too again WIP)



Now to focus on painting this unit. I plan to do nagarythe colours ie black with dark blue highlights on the edges of the cloaks and white clothes..

OK i return with an update.

Started on some spearmen yesterday and painted them up today, only got 10 as were running a little fantasy campaign in southland during june i thought id join in too so for 500pts i plan to have:

10 spearmen with command

20 Archers with command

1 mage with some stuff

500pts

anyway back to the diary heres how the spearmen are turning out...(just have to base em and stick the shields on...oh and the banner of course)



Added some ardcoat to the helmets to give them a more shiny shiny look, i think the purple on the sash on the horn gives it a bit too much of a dark elvey look..meh oh well.

and heres how the shields turned out..



All i need to do now is freehand some awesome banner for the unit and resume on the archers (which are next of course)

Bit of an update, been playing games of warhammer with this army with mixed results.

Finished the bolt thrower and am currently adding 5 more spearmen to the regiment. The archers are in progress atm, done all the metallics so now its onto the rest.

Ok recovered from page 4...

Back for another update and apologies for the delay. Been busily working away on a Red Corsair Space marine army in the shadows (which will be at Apocalypse in Oct) And very slowly making stuff for this army.

Got bored tonight and decided to pull my finger out and start hobbying it up again with the Elves. Got the urge to make scratch build something (as its been years since ive been scavenging parts and making shenanigans out of them) so i decided to make a s**ts n giggles noble for my archer unit:

heres a WIP of it (the body was courtesy of Morpheus101 and his now defunct high elf army) sorry about the orangey pic (stupid lighting!)



Decided to put a simple head, sword arm and bow arm and quiver to make this model. Just waiting for the PVA to dry before i go paint it up, dunno why but i find when i paint charaters i paint faster yet just as effiectively. weird

Anywhoo ill be putting more pics up throughout the week, im back to finish the first 1000pts off this week.

Lovely painting, and I really like the banners!

Back again with a small update.

Had a big painting session tonight, worked on the archer regiment (aka troppo archer regiment) got the whites done (evil thing to paint!) purples and browns and started on the gold in teh regiment.

Still have alot to go but im getting there

Got another mega painting session coming up tomorrow night, get the gold finshed, paint the hair on the archers and finally do the flesh and touchups.

Well ive finally finished the archer unit! after 5 days of slogging at it theyre finally done! (painting white is evil!)

So heres some new pics to show off whats been completed.

So now what? Well ive got around 7-800 pts painted up now i think so the next thing im going to focus on is either some shadow warriors (around 10 of them) or another unit of 20 archers (to get them over and done with) I managed to pick up some proper ellyrian riders today but i plan to make a unit from a box of wood elf glade riders mixed with high elf parts as well, oh theres a dragon in my car somewhere too i just remembered..

Well back to the painting table got to make a movement tray for this regiment and get onto the next part of the project.

OK back with an update as im painting. I got these Ellyrian reavers a while back off my work colleague Dan. Now as he had other plans with these elves i thought id just tweak them up a bit to match the army. Although the work Dan did on these figures were great i didnt want to fiddle too much with the color so i just darkened some things and added the appropriate colours of the army to them.

As im currently working on the Mage on horse so thats just been sprayed which im working on tonight, ill have pics of that up later on.

So now that puts this army over 1000pts, my next task as i mentioned before is either some shadow warriors or some moar archers.. I plan to use 20 or so shadow warriors in the army , theyre nothing special but i want to stay to the theme and learn to play them effectively. Other units in the works are a 15 man strong silver helm regiment, another bolt thrower , some more spearmen and a Dragon mage! oh and Alith Anar to top it off.

Just started work on my 2nd regiment of archers tonight, will be working on them tomorrow. Trying to justify a unit of Sword masters of Hoeth in the army but it doesnt really fit the theme in general

Perhaps swordmasters could represent the Nagarythe nobles who remained in Ulthuan - so, ancient, elite warriors - might have to be a small unit though.

The second archer regiment is finished, just basing the lil buggers at the moment, started the sword masters on the weekend (basecoated and sanded) and also got a great eagle for the army built the other day too.

Just being slack lately gonna have to pull my finger out.

Hello all , back with an update over the last few months.

Did some more progress on the army in the last few months, ive done a bit but enough to make this army into a rather pants 2000pts army that would probably give me a 1 for comp at a tourney!

Just today had our staff tournament with this army where i got 3 losses (as im a retard in fantasy) but took away some useful tips and thoughts for future games of Warhammer fantasy still managed to come 8th out of 12 (i think which isnt too bad)

Heres what i took in 2000pts

Teclis (this guy is awesome with magic but pants in combat as discovered in combat against Archaon..) 475pts

Level 2 mage with steed, ring of fury and gem of courage 201pts

Level 2 mage with staff of saphery and jewel of the dusk 180pts

20 archers with command 245

17 archers with light armor and command around 229pts (correct me if im wrong which im most likely am!)

24 spearmen with command, banner of arcane protection 246pts

5 Ellyrian reavers with bows and harbinger and muso 119pts

Bolt thrower 100

Great Eagle 50

Total 2000pts

As much as i got drubbed in this minor event it hasnt put me off playing the High Elves, still think theyre friggin awesome if you use them in the right way!

Hey all i return from the dead...

Well it turns out i have some annual leave coming up starting the 14th Feb till march and to my surprise there is a few one day Warhammer Fantasy tournaments being held in melbourne.

1st one being Satyr Bellum by the lads at HGC (Hampton Gamers) which is 1500 pts, and the 2nd tourney is at the Camberwell battlebunker called Hellstorm again at 1500pts

Pretty much all the units im taking for this tournament are painted up with the exeption of the Swordmasters of Hoeth.

So in the next few days stay tuned and ill churn out a unit of Swordmasters (having too much fun atm painting LOTR Harad figures )

Yeah ive got a few weeks to start on them as the army is painted just have to paint tanks!

As for the swordmasters i mustered them up out of the dodgy foam tray i have lying around, and theyre sitting on my bench ready to be painted up, might do some painting after work tomorrow arvo and get a good start on em

As for the 2nd mage have to scratch build a new one as i couldnt find an old skool metal one but all good, got the bits ready

Update.

Worked on the swordmasters last night, managed to get all the metalics done ie gold and chainmail, plan to star the cloth and other bits this weekend. Also have to come up a banner for the standard bearer too, ill nut that out over the next few days.

Managed to pick up one of the old skool mages, the one with the firey flamey flames under his feet, saves me building one!

Hello all return with a mini update.

Done a bit more painting tonight, and also played a trial game against a skaven player with my 1500pt army. Result loss lol but nonetheless i had the wise words of staks to tutor me along the way (as hes uber known in the melbourne Warhammer scene some wise words from a seasoned veteran was great. Cheers Staks! )

Anyway heres some pics of some of my rather quick work (only did a little bit of painting but heres what i did)

Felt fidgety tonight (dunno the recent tattoo that i got or the warm weather) so i painted this up as a Banner of Arcane Protection tonight for the swordmasters (dont leave home without one!)
