Western Suburbs Games Society

All tactical and strategic table top games (miniature, card, role play, computer) are welcome.

Commenced in 1974 as Parramatta Wargames club.
Changed to Western Suburbs Games Society in mid 1980's when we moved out of Parramatta.

We have approximately 22 meeting dates a year, generally on the 1st and 3rd Sunday unless there is a long weekend.

Currently we play 40K, Flames of War, Tactika, Full Thrust, Battletech, Warzone and Warmachine. Members also have armies for Dbm, Napoleonics, Seven Year War, Napoleonic Naval, Warhammer Fantasy, Lord of the Rings. Many players also role play.

Membership is an annual fee due June each year WITH NO subsequent attendence fee.

$15 for junior membership (still at school). This averages out to 68 cents a meeting)

$50 for Senior Membership which includes entry into Leviathan, our annual Convention/Tournament. If you exclude the saving made on Leviathan entry, it averages out to be $2.27 a meeting, even if you attend only half the meetings it works out to be an average of $4.60 per meeting.) When you include the fact that membership gives you free entry into Leviathan as well it becomes even better value for money.

$50 for Family Membership, which covers Mum, Dad and all the children still at school.

Visitor, first visit free, then $5 per meeting.

Approximately 2 meetings a year are ALL WEEKEND meetings to allow for big battles. Start the game Saturday morning and leave it set up for Sunday, finishing at 5pm. This allows for really big games.

We also run as part of our regular meetings, monthly family days. Kids with their parents get to paint, enjoy a sausage sizzle and play simplifed games to encourage kids to enter the hobby.

WSGS has its own paint library for the kids to use, as Matisse Derivan donated $800 in paint for the family days.

I also donated a trophy for a small WSGS interclub challenge between 4 clubs. Each club takes a turn hosting the challenge as a friendly between us.

We have 3 Display days a year, basically theme based painting comps.

WSGS is heavily into promoting our hobby and attend MOAB running free participation games (Lost Worlds -Russell (Teddy Bears Picnic - Ty)

We also have a display at the Royal Easter Show for 2 days in the Arts and Crafts Hall, attend fund raisers to help local pre-schools etc raise money, attend the Matisse Arts and Crafts open day and promote our hobby with displays outside of Bunnings etc.

We use to attend some High Schools during education week as well until we all had children of our own.

We meet at Quakers Hill High School, Lalor road, Quakers Hill. We meet in the Teachers Common room, upstairs in the admin building.
