Kraken have posted pdfs of the Genesis Rulebook. You can download the book as a whole or as separate parts (Rules, background, scenarios)

Kraken Editions

Now i have some more reading to do!
hellboy42
After a quick look so far i am very impressed, all the factions look like they will get some nice editions to their armies. I think i will be getting Ibrahim Ibn Suleman to lead my Khalimans for sure but he is a Wave 7 release so it might be a while

The Avalonian Colossus sounds dangerous with being able to do 9 points of damage!

Looking forward to playing some more games now
Knight_of_Sanguinius
Awesome. Downloading it now. smile.gif
hellboy42
The rules didn't seem that different to me, maybe only adding the focus levels to casting spells like staseman told us about

I haven't got around to reading all the background and extra characters yet
morsla
Background is a little tricky to read due to problems wrapping text around some of the images... I posted this on the Kraken forums:

Fortunately, this doesn't affect the rules or army list entries - it's only present in the background sections, so won't stop people from playing some games icon_smile.gif Unfortunately, it means that some of the background is still a mystery...

p.25: Bottom of paragraph beginning "Time went by thus"
-- also, most of the "Glass Fresco" text

p.26: Final paragraph, beginning "As each was about to go his separate way"

p.29: Most of the text in "The Battle of Gigage Gadushi" (around the Shadow illustration)

p.31: Text around the Aurlok illustration

p.34: Most of the text in "The Time of Legends" and "The Age of Conflicts"

p.36: Second and third paragraphs in "The Caliphates"

p.38: Text in "The Bloodlines" and "The Castes," around the illustrations of the glaive and the Khaliman

p.39: Text around the centre illustration (Khaliman Oracle)

p.41: Last two lines in "The Ifrit"

p.42: Text from "Each of these divisions is organized," around the Malikh Venator illustration

p.43: Title for Hakim Ibn Khalid

p.61: Text around the centre illustration (Crow Aurlok)

p.77: Final paragraph in "Jade Triad Overview"

p.79: Paragraphs 3, 4, 5 and 6. Also, paragraph 3 in "Geography"

p.82: Text wrapped around the Tiger Guard illustration

p.84: Text and title in "The Hazed Monkey"

p.85: All text in "The Winds of the Meng" box

p.101: Final paragraph, beginning "More prestigious than any other"

p.103: Text wrapped around both illustrations at the bottom of the page

p.106: Text wrapped around the tree illustration

p.107: Title and text in the first three paragraphs of "Military Organization"

Having the book available at last is fantastic, though biggrin.gif

I think I'm likely to start collecting Avalonians at some stage. The Prioress figure is great, and I like everything available to the faction...

What're you using to read the file, morsla? It's a mess in the places you mention when I look at it with Preview (on a Mac), but works fine when I look at it with Adobe Reader (again, on a Mac). I gather that Preview handles layers weirdly.

I haven't really had a chance to peruse the rulebook in detail, but I'm keen to give this game a shot!
hellboy42
Text seems fine on my pc with acrobat

But i did find a spelling mistake or too, a repeated paragraph and the Leap skill is a bit confusing to read
morsla
Ah - gotcha.

I thought I'd been reading via Acrobat Reader, but the new Firefox PDF reader (for Macs) seems to use Preview.

No problems in Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Reader. The garbled text appears when using Preview (either within Firefox, or when opened seperately).

Now I can go back and read all the missing bits...

There are a few typos, but generally it's pretty good. A couple of bits missed by the translators, too (P.71: Skill "Taille 2" on the Wolf Spirit-Guard; p.122: "Mise en place de jeu" in place of "Setting up the game" etc).

Thank the gods that it is a living rulebook.

Forgive the total tangent, but sitting in Parkes bored out of your mind? Are you a radio astronomer? Who lives in Melbourne? Any chance I know who you are?
Chaplain_Fortis
He's an accountant. He'll be up there to accountant stuff up. All over the place.

edit: Or the other one. The one thats like an accountant, but they don't like being accountants because thats not what they do. Either way, not a radio man guy.
cmdr_roy
Im not an accountant dammit !!
Im a freakin' compliance person who doesnt deal with accountants.
My sister is an accountant.
Although radio astronomer would be a cool job, the new Hubble pics are awesom.
Chaplain_Fortis
So... "money man"? "finance dude"?
cmdr_roy
Well i dont actually deal in either of those areas.
How about 'non-comittal financial advice in a purely general sense that is like totally compliant with the relevant legislation' dude ?

*Is happily sitting here while watching "Battle Bunker" Viv print a full colour copy of Genesis*

Hey Minion, didn't know you played, but at the same time shouldn't be surprised. Like me you seem to like the fun small little skirmish games smile.gif
I still need to play a game of Infinity one day...
