i've been a fan of Chaos Dwarfs to a little while now and when i saw that regular dwarf was just collecting dust in the army box, i decided i wanted to construct an army that could something of a showcase army for me. i actually hope to get my army finished before GW decide to release it again, but i guess under the current situations, i have all the time in the world.

I know that this army is nothing to be compared the some of the members armies on Chaos Dwarf online, i working on improving skill with greenstuff and craft knives.

Below is a picture of my army as it currently is, although it does not include my unit of Black Orcs,

IPB Image

As a heads up of what i have done:

Warriors : Constructed for 7th edition dwarves, with the normal dwarf beards cut away and replaced with chaos dwarf beards and mask sculpted from greenstuff.

IPB Image
IPB Image

Hobgoblins: Constructed from 6th edition dwarfs bodies and arms with Night Goblin/goblins head.

IPB Image

Sneaky Gitz: Old edition Night Goblins given an assortment of hand weapons

IPB Image

Death Rockets: Mixed bits that include, a cannon barrel, defiler barrel and forgeworld Rokkits

IPB Image

Bull Centaur: My recent pride and joy, made using a Current Edition Chaos Steed, a Slayer and tad of greenstuff wink.gif

Cool... a good start. I also have some CDs on the go. Are you going to paint as you go or convert them all first then paint?
The Bull centaur looks great, I like the chaos steed body. Keep going with the sculpting, you'll get the hang of it.
My CDs are in the link in my sig. Happy to offer advice if you have questions about my stuff.
Got an army list that you are working on?

yeah snowman, i've seen you, i've followed your thread both here and on CDO, your stuff is brillant, your definitely a innovator for Australia Chaos Dwarfs. Your BC's are sure interesting.

i'll probly build a lot more before i paint, but i do really want to paint me hobgoblins, but im paints are currently dry, so i'll either get some more, or do a lengthly project to raise them from the dead.

Right Now my list is Ravening Hordes list, about 1500 points strong, but i probly take another gander at the Indy GT list as its all the hype these days.

Currently in the midst of making my Earthshaker and am making along the lines of a WWI 'Big Bertha/Paris Gun'. Here are some concepts that i drew during my uni lectures>

IPB Image

I am aware that this does look like a 40K basilisk. Barrel is a bit too long for what i want to achieve.

IPB Image

The Front of the Earthshaker.

IPB Image

A more Recent Idea of what the Earthshaker will probly look like.

IPB Image

Conceptual Ideas of how i want to to build it.

This EarthShaker is my current project along with the BCs, at current i just have the Basilisk Cannon.

IPB Image

And Large Tread 'wheels' Made from Gatorade leads covered in tanks tracks, this really is going to be a long and tedious task.

IPB Image

Any Advice in working with plastic card would be appreciated, and does anyone know where i may be able to acquire some in the Sunshine Coast Area.

UPDATE TIME

its been a long time since i posted anything, uni was hectic

Work on my earthshaker: As to my concepts before.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Back View - real bullet casings for spent shells
IPB Image

Detailed view on front
IPB Image

im still unsure on how to fill the undercarriage, im not sure if i want enclosed ( was going to use Dark Eldar Ravenger Skirts) or just have a more bare joins underneath.

A little work on my Black Orcs, not much conversion, first models i painted in a long way, not the best painter in the world but happy with them so far, still work do on them.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Painting work on my Sorc, just a reaper Dwarf Standard Bearer, with standard replaced with a shortened lighting claw that i found in my bitz box and his axe-top replaced with a 6th edition musician top. he is very still a work in progress, the modelling is done, painting is not, im not really much of a painter.

Work on my lord, haven't done much with him yet, he is just the Dwarf BSB from the Army box, with his standared replaced with a WOC axe, thankgod with for the ability to pin. i also added a crest to his helm.

IPB Image

Of recent i have been working on my Obisdian Guard ( if i choose just to use Ravenging Hordes list, they will just be a unit of warriors with two-handed weapon

The Command is made from IronBreaker Cmd, the musician is unchanged though the Standard bearer has a replacement standard, made from warrrior champion boxed set, i plan to give him( The Standard top) a mask similar to the warriors in the rest of my army. the Champion is just a dwarf warrior given a space marine head and given a weapon swap from a WOC Knight Lance, which represent a Dwarf two handed weap.

IPB Image

IPB Image

The rest of the unit so far is given an allsortment of different weapons, just pinned onto a Two-handed weapon arm from the Dwarf Warrior boxed set, the ones with different heads are either bret or WOC heads, i plan to use whatever i can get my hands on.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Some work on my Hobgoblin Bolt Thrower, simiply made from an old Dwarf BT raised a bit, the crew is made from the crew of the dwarf BT with their heads hacked off and night goblin heads replacing them.

IPB Image

And just a bit of art work to finish it off, a concept for work on my Kollosus

Small Update

Nothing large this time, just the finished Earthshaker, display base and crew. This was a fun model to make but a long a tedoius one, i may want to build a couple more things before i have to build another Earthshaker. I also enter the warmachine in the GW converting comp, i had high hope for it until i saw the competition.. ahhh... well we'll see lol.

IPB Image
The Earthshaker on the Base.

IPB Image
The Base. Just a plastic CD case textured with sand.

IPB Image
Not super clear, but pictures of the crew which include a CD loader, a CD firer and a Hobgoblin spotter.

not sure what i will work on next, i really need more dwarfs to work with, but no doubt you will see:
  • The Blunderbuss unit with 'eruption style gun' filler
  • another 4 Bullcentaurs to complete the unit of 5
  • Completed Obsidian Guard with Orge CD filler
  • Finished Wolf Riders
  • and Hopefully two units of painted hobgolbins

Wish me Luck

Jimbo81
that bull centaur conversion is the bomb! Inspired! I want to see more.

I know its been a long coming but it's....... UPDATE TIME!!!

Over Christmas i ventured north, along the way we saw places where that honoured the BULL GOD. ... Glory to Hashut.

IPB Image

Many of you may have looked at the new Chaos Dwarf book ( Indy GT list) and seen some of new ideas, one such idea is that of the inferno golem, it is more or less a golem formed from obsidian, metal and magna. i contructed mine from Ogre Kingdom's Bulls fused together with dreadnought arms and more or less whatever weapons i could get.

IPB Image

All Three of them

IPB Image

The First one i made, his arm is from space marine CC arms ( how many people are always looking for these) his other arm is just the ogre fist with a chainsword pinned onto it. There is an all manner of different bitz, ranging from WHFB WOC shields and chaos tank bitz. The green stuff on this model was my first attempt at making magna.

IPB Image

This Guy will be the one that i arm with a contruct weapon, one arm is lascannon and the other arm is just a regular fist, his head is from what i assume was a chaos sprue ( i think it is the tank one) with anything i can find in my bitz boxes to make it look fearsome.

IPB Image

This one is my most WIP, as you can see, his head and gut plate are just blu-tac-ed one, he is going to be the one that has the 'The Face of Hashut' which counts as being the Champion, musican and Standard Bearer all rolled into one. So im goin make his rather bulled themed and orc stuff seem like a good idea. i even plan to give him the hoofed feet from the giant kit.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Work on my second Earthshaker, i changed in up a little bit but will still look relatively the same as my other one.

IPB Image

Just added more spikes and dragon head on the top of the barrel.
Alfract
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This the work i have been doing for my obsidian/great weapons/Lord's unit, in previous posts you may have seem my work using Bret Knights errant helms, i had orginally planned to use WOC heads but decided against and when with the Bret Helms instead, im quite happy with result.

IPB Image

A few of them.

IPB Image

Them ranked up, given all manner of weapons. Still thinking of giving them shoulder pads.

IPB Image

WIP Musican.. the Shoulder pads add size.

IPB Image

My Lord, more or less the same as last time but given a new more gruesome weapon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have planned to work on a Sorc for the CDO Golden Hat comp, but many things happened i was unable to finish it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Been Working on making a Kollosus Still, another concept

IPB Image

and a small teaser of things to come.

IPB Image

------------------------------------------------------------------------

One a side note i have been working on some other projects, think building and magentizing my bases..

IPB Image

ooooh Magic

I also got some elves to convert to Araby Sailors... i love converting

Very nice. Where do you get the rules and fluff for Chaos Dwarves?

There are two Different Rules, the Ravenging Horde list which was once present on the Games Workshop Australia website, but not anymore but can easily to aquired by search for it in google and there will be one or two hosts that have it.

The other rules are that of Dwarves of Chaos Indy Gt list found Here, that includes fluff for stuff like inferno golems, deamonsmiths, deamon engines and the like.

Other places are website like the Chaos Dwarfs Online, where there a good number of Chaos Dwarf fanatics present, they manage the chaos dwarf wiki page.

My Kollosus machine is akin to the one in Grudgebear by Gav Thorpe.

Update. Heres something for all the Chaos Dwarf lovers out there. Over the past couple of weeks i have noticed that many of the wargamers here are tipping the BSS thread upside down look for some chaos. I personlly love the look of the 3rd Edition Stuff, but as a uni student, their prices are beyond me lol.

For all the Big Hat lovers out there, to call yourself a die hard fan, you have to wonder if they have themselves one of these:

Its a White Dwarfs Presents: Chaos Dwarfs, i was able to pick this up on ebay for $15 a couple of weeks ago and am pretty happy with it.

My Favorite Chaos Dwarfs by far are definitely the fan made ones, it really is a testement to see that modellers are converting whole armies and would encourage more CDs players out there to experiment with different kits and show everyone just how good Chaos Dwarfs can be.

Anyway, back to the update, uni is ######ing me over and reallly need to put warhammer on the back burner hence why most of my warhammer is being put away for the time being, all my bitz are still close for BSS reasons.

A couple of things to show you tonight. This is Sorc/Deamon Smith that was for the Golden Hat for CDO that was never finished, its not finished here but gives the idea what i was trying to achieve.

The Second Pictures is more on My Kollosus

Been having ideas for making a Kollosus Demonic Tower, akin to that decribed in the IndyGT list and am thinking about using a Ork Battlewagon as the base. I like the idea of it have track wheels on the back and regular round wheels on the front. Then having the sides of the battlewagon hacked up and fused with plastic card in a upward fashion to create a tower. I hope that it can be three layers:

1. The bottom layer with the engine connecting to the axels and steering mechanism with dwarf steering and number of hobgoblin checking gauges and whatnot.

2. The secong layer is where 5 Blunderbusses with stand, im think an open front and sides.

3. The top layer with be open top, this for another 5 blunderbusses to stand. Im thinking of also having a gate at the top, like siege towers of the past that allow attacker to charge outward. you never know when you might beseige a dwarf stronghold.

im also thinking about maybe using the steam tank engine as the engine at the back and am not sure how successful that will prove, i'd rather be able to buy just the parts i need rather than a $96 kit especially after getting something a battlewagon

But I am in need to steam style engine that would be suitable, maybe something from a model train, can anyone recommed to good place to get some train engines on cheap. im also thinking about maybe using the steam

Just a small update, hoping to get some more stuff up this week if time permits. Added arms to my kollosus, it going well so far. Also been trying find some suitable basing materials for my chaos dwarfs, finally settled to cork tiles from Bunning. This can be easily hacked up to represent floats rocks in manga.

Here is a unit of Hobgoblin Bowmen, not sure if they will see the battlefield as i hear, that if i want to protect my warmachines i should use Orc Arrer Boyz, but i still love the look of them.

Its just a custom made movement tray, i still plan to add a metal bases to it, for stability and the ability later to magnetize.

A small filler on the back row of the unit, one of the hobo has been given a dwarf crossbow and is staring in awe and his friend makes it go real far, hahaha.

Also been thinking of idea some of the hero in the Indy GT list, for Astragoth, am thinking of using a Ork Nob in Mega Armour as the leg base, i know that it may seem a little big, but will probly fit well with my army as some of the other stuff is quite big as well. And for MORGOK HELLSPAWN, THE DAEMOGOBLIN OF VORAG im thinking of just using a 6th edition dwarf body, 6th edition Night Goblin head and bloodletter parts mixed in.

Also if there are any CDO members out, and see the the Artisan's Comp and haven't voted, be sure to vote and maybe give my illustration some love. *Hint* Mine is of something that im building now.

Hope you like it.
Alfract
Small update Time, been working on a couple of things and having grand designs in my head to make more and more wonderous CD inventions, please someone tell me that there isn't something wrong with me, i can't seem to finish one project, because everytime that im near completion, something else wants to take over, for example, im still working on my Upright kollosus, but i want make another one like in the Indy GT list,

I did some work on my bull Centuars, i plan on either having a unit of six or a unit of five with one musician. Just as a recap, the horses are Chaos Knights and the dwarfs are GW slayers, the musician i believe is a harliquin (sp?) model, that i got in a trade of while back, i think the standard bearer that went with him is actually one of my sorcs.

i have just mounted them on some cork tiles, i plan on drybrushing them gray and paintying the other bitz of the base as if it was lava, i haven't totally decided on how i want to paint the slayers, thinking maybe of giving them blue hair ( saw it other at bugmens brewery and liked the look of it)

Side short of how the bodies were shortened, i did originally shorten the legs but it always ended up a bit fiddley

A shot of the Kollosus arms , liberated from the Ork Killa Kans

A shot of Morgok Hellspawn - The Daemogoblin of Vorag made from 6th edition dwarfs bitz, 6th edition goblin ( man i love these and am in dire need of more) and a current edition bloodletter.

Here the fluff from the indy list, for all of those that don't have the GT list.

Chaos Dwarfs excel at cryptic arcane sciences, experimenting on their
endless supply of wretched thralls, while finding new ways to better the
Chaos Dwarf Empire. Centuries ago the Chaos Dwarfs attempted to create
a new and better breed of Orc, stronger and more obedient than the typical
boisterous greenskin. Hence the drilled Black Orcs were born. Monsters of
stern and grim demeanor, the Black Orcs proved to be too well organized
and militant to adopt a life of servitude. As a result, the Black Orcs led
an insurrection that nearly toppled the Chaos Dwarf Empire, only being
defeated at the last moment by the treachery of the Hobgoblins. This failed
experiment did not hinder the efforts of the Chaos Dwarfs, however,
who endeavor to create their own breeds of Goblinoids to serve the
desires of Hashut.

In recent times, the Daemonsmiths have created a new breed of Hobgoblin;
a sect of Goblinoid possessed with the sentience of a Daemon of Chaos.
These greenskins, known as Daemogoblins, are horrifying parodies of both
Daemon and Goblin! Their eyes flair with the wicked malice of unnatural
intellect, they speak with deep and ancient voices and their hides are black
as though chard from flame. Unfortunately for the Chaos Dwarfs, these
dreadful hybrids are highly unstable; the clash of Hobgoblin genetics
fused with the essence of a Daemon causes most Daemogoblins to explode
in a violent combustion of daemonic fire and green innards. As a result,
Daemogoblins are exceptionally rare creatures indeed.
Morgok Hellspawn is one such exception, the first of his kind to display
a potent mastery of magic and live for more then a few mere moments!
However, surviving the abominable hybrid process has caused great curiosity
from amongst the Chaos Dwarf Daemonsmiths who mean to anatomize
Morgok to determine how he survived where other Daemogoblins have not.
Determined to control his own destiny, Morgok escaped the clutches of the
Daemonsmiths using his newly gained Daemonic powers, resulting in a large
bounty for anyone who finds the Daemogoblin and brings him back to the
Tower of Zharr alive and unspoiled!

Look at this, two updates in the same week, i must really be looking for some attention. hahaha

This is the WIP of my Deamoneater , made from a defiler kit, cannon chassis and wheels, exhausts, guitar wire, metal bitz, spawn bitz, dragon bitz, Imperial tracks, more or less whatever i could get my hand on, i didn't want to go all out as i have looked at some lists on CDO people are running like 2 or 3 of them, i myself just want to be able to say that i have nearly one of every mini on the list,

A couple of side and detailed shots

Also a closeup of the dwarf that will be converted to a another deamonsmith to be only used with the deamoneater. i am not sure what it is or where it is from, you know let me know.

I really want to get my kollosus done, so i can move on to more projects. a small wip photo of the exhaust on the lower back, made from organ gun barrels, a big shout-out to Chaplin Fortis for these

Morgrim
Nice work... i like the bodyguard unit.....the Lord looks really nice!
Alfract
I think i might be involved a Tinypic rollback as all the pictures of the last 3 months have not showed and i believe to have been deleted from my account. i will try and find pics and re-add to the threads
