I know I have too many diaries at the moment - but when somone suggested Battle fleet Gothic I jumped at the chance!!

So to start I decided I was going to try not to buy any figures and kitbash/convert/build the entire fleet/fleets!

So it's Orks first...

So far the fleet consists of a Kill Kroozer ('Da Nasha'), a Terror Ship ('Da 'Ard Un') and 6 Brute Ram Ships!


Planned are at least 3 of the other 3 types of escorts, Maybe another two Kruisers, Maybe 3 Roks, a Space Hulk (absodamnlutley!) and perhaps 2 battleships (Gorbad's Revenge looks fun?).

Then I'll try scratchbuilding an Eldar and even maybe a Nid fleet!

what do you mean by that i know the size of the ships. i play necrons. i'm saying that they look small compared to necron ships although that could just be the pics

size of the ship dosnt matter in BFG.

As long as its on a decent base.

You should try not to use such recognisable parts, it really upsets the scale of the piece if the first thing you think of when you look at it is "that's a stikkbomb". I'm talking mainly about the stickbombs and the chainsaw heads. Maybe try sculpting the rams instead and plasticard tubes for thrusters.

As far as ork ships go they are allot less chunkier - but the lengh is about right. Fair enough about some of the more recognisable bitz - I'm actually going to put the orksies on hold while I await some real BFG bitz arriving... But in the meantime I whipped up a Dark Eldar fleet!! The large one was going to be a void stalker (eldar list), but I might just add it to a hulk instead! lol!

So to further explain this little side project... that's really only happened as I'm trying to avoid the last of my WHFB ork army!

I'm gathering all the bitz I can muster to make 3-4 kitbashed fleets!! I plan to only use a limited array of actual BFG bits and even then only plastics. I don't have enough flying stand bases so I'm thinking of mounting the escorts and cruisers on 40mm bases & Battleships etc on the LARGE ones.

Fleets:
* Ork Fleet (started)
* Dark Eldar Fleet (almost done modeling)
* Nid Fleet
* & Possibly a Tau Fleet... I'll see how I'm feeling!

At the moment I'm aiming for around 1,500point for each fleet... But I think already the Dark Eldar fleet has gone over that!

The Dark Eldar Fleet currently stands at 1,560 points:
4 Cruisers (2 with lance upgrades, 2 with launch bay upgrades)
10 Escorts (3 Battery, 3 Torpedo, 2 Lance, 2 Impaler assault bay)

But there's one more Lance escort almost made, another Cruiser in development and then of course the Giant hulk/archon's throne thingy that doesn't have rules! lol!

They seem a bit big...relative to other races equivalent ships anyway. But they looks pretty nifty (the DE ones).

I'm not sold on the ork ones personally. They look a little too DIY, even for Orks. If that's what you're after then Great Success!

Only 1-2 Cruisers left for the DE list and then I'll get some paint on them! Bolt Gun Metal, Necron Abyss & Purple Wash I think?

Well that was quick! After a coat of Necron Abyss, a touch here and there of deneb stone and bolt gun metal and then a purple wash - they are all done! Sadly my photography does them no justice whatsoever...

Is this fleet finished? Not quite... I still have one more cruiser to make, but I have to scavange some parts first!
Still no stands, but I'm debating 25mm v/s 40mm bases.

those dark eldar are lookin good. I reckon that big one would be perfect for a void stalker, a mate of mine has one and its HUGE. makes my battle barge look small. as for the ork ships and the stikk bombs, I think if you cut the shafts off and just used the head they might not look so obvious, and possibly cooler.

The concept for the Orks is muck like Reavers from Serenity. Less chunky, more 'whatever works!'.

Actually I have a question - flying bases are 30mm. Is there a particular reason I can't have them on 25mm or 40mm bases?

Finished 2 Ork Kroozers and 6 Escorts today! The flash made them very shiney - they are more dark and 'reaver' looking.

BUT in the meantime - between child wrangling and my extended family all coming over to test our new pizza oven - I managed to get Gorbad's Revenge (Battle Kroozer) and another Kill Kroozer done!

Scratchbuilding orks ships is really addictive! The Nid Fleet may be some time away...

what parts have you used? (obviously some Chaos and imperial BFG, but what else?)


I do see some Cities of death pipes and trukk exhausts.

There's a bit of everything in there - Stormboyz backpacks, 40K Ork trukk parts, Cities of Death stuff... basically what ever I can scrounge up and make look Orky!

-Hulk & 3 Roks almost finished modeling (just adding some extra weapons tonight)

After an wonderful trade with Munster I now have the makings of a MASSIVE rogue trader fleet! Details to follow soon.

SO I got a Space Fleet Box + 22 Blisters of OLD Space fleet stuff (the date on the sprue is 1989!)... I should have taken a picture of it as a whole, but I got stuck in!! I am going to have a great Rogue Trader fleet - perfact for a game of 'Rogue Trader'!
