Hi

How is the heavy flamer shot? I was playing today and we got in an arguement about if the heavy flamer can move (for 1 AP), then shoot afterwards for 2 APs.

Or do you have to stay still to shoot?

Cheers

No you can move for 1 AP then Shoot for 2 AP's. Hell, if you have the comand points you can move for 4 or 5 then shoot for 2 if you want.

I guess the real question was for a definition of a combined action. My opponent seemed to think that a combined action was a combination of seperate actions - so you could not move and then shoot the heavy flamer as you can't combine the shooting of the heavy flamer with any other action. I thought that it was pretty clear that a combined action referred to the moving and shooting of either the storm bolter or assault cannon - if you move forward for 1AP, you get to shoot the weapon for free.

Ah, in that case no you dont. Because it requires 2 action points to shoot rather than one. You dont get a "free" shot when you move like with storm bolters and assult cannons as a combined action. But you can move then spend action points to shoot.

I was just about to post a topic on this subject only to find one already started.

The rules state quite clearly in the rule book that to fire the HF that you could not combine any other action. It confused our gaming group there for a while as to whether he could move and fire or perform any other action during his turn. But then there's nothing stopping him from shooting in the genestealer turn or your own turn using command points.

So i'm still not sure on the correct rules conserning M/S with the Flamer, anybody else got an opinion on this rule when they play SH?

My understanding is that you can't use the heavy flamer and do an action at the same time e.g. terminators with storm bolters can move and get a 'free' shot - heavy flamers don't get this combination action - they have to move into position first and then use 2 action points to fire the heavy flamer.

That is just how I interpret the rules.

Yeah, you can NOT move and shoot the flamer as the same action...never have been able to in all three editions.
