When I started playing WFB last July I wasn't sure if I wanted to try Warriors of Chaos, or Beasts of Chaos. In the end I went warriors cause I had a unit and some characters I was using in WHQ, but I always wanted to put together beasts at some point.
After playing for a couple weeks I took the warriors to Pilgrimage, and that was great fun. The warriors have now been painted up and taken to DogCon and I loved the way they turned out! So, next up, BEASTS!
As part of my clubs Tale of Many Gamers (http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87165) I've decided to run beasts. Was a bit of "umm" and "ahhh" if I would take them as rumors last year were that the new book was a joke. But I decided I would take them, and a couple days after the tale started the official new rules started popping up on the net, and there was much rejoicing by me!
The tale runs until July, just in time to take the Beasts to the tourney that got me started; Pilgrimage!
I really like the new book, and love that it's "Beastmen", because that is exactly the type of army I wanted, blood crazed foaming at the mouth half-goat half-men with giant minotaurs, more bull than man (greek style minotaur, not furry friendly fantasy style), charging with bloodshot eyes.
And that's exactly what I want to try and capture in my army!
Now, the club's tale has already begun, and month 1 ends tonight. The new book isn't out yet, so I'm already lagging behind the others, but by the end of next month I will have almost 2.5k of beasts together. Painting my warriors for DogCon and my job limited any time I could dedicate to month 1, so all I have is some assembled models.
The plan is to try and capture a dynamic charging horde look. Will have to wait for the plastics to see what is possible. I loved converting my warrior army and look forward to the new beastmen kits! Even the steroid-abusing minotaurs! But you can leave the razorgors at home, those models are horrible! Nothing is too "dynamic" yet, but next month with all the new plastics will be lots of fun!
So here is what I have assemled so far:
A wargor, a BSB, and Gorthor to be used as a Shaman. I think he looks ace!

Obligatory hounds, 10 "old kit" Gors, and 15/20 (saving the last few for new kits command) Ungors with spears, which include a 40x40mm and 2x 20x40mm unit fillers.

And finally, old and new chariots.

Ok ok, so a slow start, but I promise big and better things! And less text next update!
What I envision for my army is:
Beastlord (still debating Doombull, will have to wait for new book, but maybe even Great Shaman)
Gorbull BSB
Shaman
Shaman
3x Ungor raiders
2-3x Chariots
Hounds
Gors
2x 4 Minotaurs
2x Harpies
Cygor
Jabberslyth
(those two are going to be tricky but fun to create!)
And models currently en route from different stockists:
3 Minotaur boxes
3 Gor boxes
3 Ungor boxes
2 Bestigor boxes
Malagor (use as a shaman, matches Gorthor)
AoW Beastlord (love the look of this model)
Also, in around 2 months I'll have a "bonus" for the tale. Something I want to do and will have the spare parts for it, so can't wait!
Anyways, I got work to do.
