Hey all just posting up my WIP of my Parasite conversion and part colour scheme for my new nids army.
also hope these arent massive pics.

The parasite is made from a warrior i already had together, so all the arms and legs got ripped/cut off/out, the tail is the orignal tail cut down and green stuffed inbetween to get the right sort of bend happening and the wings are from a winged nightmare from the vampire counts army

Just look at the chitin along the warriors back and head for the colours im using, its a sort of metallic blue

Those wings are huge, but look great on the model.
thommo11
hehe yeah he certainly stands out from the lil gargoyles he flies with =)

Ditto, its also amazing how these parts go together quite well. Being from different game systems.

Some of the new GW plastics don't even go with other plastics from the same army, let alone same game system.

Very nice conversion! Looks suitably dominating - Nice build tips as well.

I really like the parasite so far!

How do you find it performs in games?

I hope you arent attaching it to the squad...?
thommo11
Yeah hes been put with a 10 man gargoyle squad in pretty much all my games so far, the gargoyles have adrenal and toxins gives the parasite some protection on the way in, at least 10 hits lol and whats left of the gargoyles means the parasite can usually stay away from the nasty power weap/power fists of doom. In most games ive played the gargoyles do well enough in CC to make em worth while flying in, in bigger points games i plan to boost the number of gargoyles in the squad to 15 or 20. Had the parasite take down a Chaos CC dready in my last game.
Tyra_Nid
Ok, well it isnt an Independent Character, so Im not sure how its been joining squads?

EDIT: Oh wait, it is... That makes it a lot better!

Oh yes it is...
Tyra_Nid
Hmmm, wow, I was sure that the Prime was the only independent character in the codex. That makes the character heaps better, although its still a flying killpoint factory...

Wow, that is one great Parasite conversion! The best I've seen in fact. Be nice to see it alongside some regular nids for comparison.

Ok just a small update havent had much time to work on the bugs but here's an update on the parasite greenstuffed the wings in a bit and a pic of him with his lil buddies =)

Oh man, that Parasite looks awesome. I was afraid he might be a bit too huge but he goes nicely in the gargoyle unit and fits in beautifully...

I run the Parasite with 30 Gargoyles and use the Tervigon's Catalyst power to give them Feel No Pain, a nice trick I discovered by accident in my first game... I always find combos easier by playing than trying to nut it out in my head!

They definitely reach combat and a squad that size can tie up the nasty powerfist well clear of the parasite! smile.gif

I'm convinced a good Tervigon conversion (and Tyrranofex) will require at least 2 Carnifex kits.

My plan is to split the carapace and build it up around a third set of spore chimnety things and make a widewr carapace and longer back.

After all, there's one 6 wound monster model currently available and it looks way bigger than a Carnidfex!

Thats epic. And im sure that the Tervie will work out.

Thanx all for the comments yeah i plan to try make the middle of the tervigons back a lil higher, prolly with green stuff and add a middle row of chimneys out of plasticard, add in some sacs of bugs also prolly out of greenstuff, although it has been suggested to make them out of clear, prolly apoxy resin and have it so you can see either a ripper or a partial of a gant growing inside =) would be cool but more then likely out of my league to do lol, hopefully ill get a chance to do some more either conversions or painting today... after a game atleast =)
