Moon Daddy
Hi, I recently have returned to the world of Warhammer and 40k mainly because i miss making terrain and painting miniatures. So this forum WIP is intended to gain some feedback and criticism on my works, (but go easy for the first few weeks i am a little bit rusty).

Alittle back story, Living in a shared house (makes it difficult to be messy), I was put off from continuing my passion (living with girls, didn't want to look nerdy) However after confessing one night they all told me how stupid i was and encoruaged me to continue, so here I am, excited to start a whole new project!

Previously i collected space wolves and I never finished my Sisters of battle (which i think are called Witch Hunters now?)

First up i shall explain what i will be working on armata_PDT_06.gif

My plans so far
1. Start and finish Death Korps of Krieg army ( with an armored division!)
2. Create many modular terrain pieces
3. Create a game table
4. Convince my room mates to turn the spare room into a battle bunker armata_PDT_36.gif (so not going to happen)
5. Maybe...if i get time start an space Ork army or a warriors of chaos army or back to Sisters of battle (not sure yet)

First orders came in, this being alot (more to come) of foamcore/foam board and plasticard. I have already cut alot of it

Also my DKOK troops (1 firing, 1 advancing) arrived (tanks still on there way)
Yes this is the FW image.

This is one of the side entrances, showing the boards going down into the trench, still need to work on the duck boarding. (bad photo sorry)

I feel that my table will most likely have a ww1 Battle of the Somme or Battle for Paschendale feel to it.

Model shots ( i will have better photos soon)

I was going to do the typical ww1 german look with grey etc, but i decided id like a unit that stands out alot more on the table so i am going for a ww2 Afrika korp sort of feel, so far i am happy with it

Some inspirational pictures for my army

More to come tomorrow. hopefully

Looking good so far. My only complaint is that even when painted it looks like white foam. Perhaps a coat of PVA and sand? i usually mix in black water based paint with my PVA and sand mix so you have undercoat done as well for the first layer. Also givs them a bit of weight and makes them more durable.

Yeah, i was using those packaging foam to practice on for them, i will definitely use that technique for the real pieces. Just waiting on some sand. I was wondering if i could use pva/water/sand etc on a whole massive game board... I kind of want it to keep its wet look as well. More pva/water perhaps?

Small morning update before i go out for supplies/lunch.

IPB Image
Duckboards went down, the stairs in place, also a few poles to show where the barb wire will be placed. You can also see where the crater in the trench will go.

IPB Image
Showing what the trench walls will look like, obviously all way to clean at the moment. Again you can see where i will build up the sand for the crater.

More to come later.

Be careful over large surfaces as the sand, glue and paint mix can cause bad warping. As for the wet look you would have to do another layer or just plain glue by itself or a high gloss varnish (something from the paint section of bunnings) would do the same, the varnish would have a brown tint to it though so would look like slightly muddy water. But maybe that's what you want.

A good trench is something ive always wanted to do up... this is inspiring.

Scratch built terrain always has an awesome vibe to it no matter what...

I like it.

Filler probably has a better texture for mud as the grain size is more appropriate. I have certainly used PVA/water/sand on a 6x4 table before wit no problesm. PVA or some form of varnish would assist in making it look wet.
