Full Version: Help with Looted Valk

I have started my new Ork army and looking through all the conversion online has me starting to think about trying my hand at some conversion (this will be my first).

I have a Valkyrie in pieces that I started putting together and made a few mistakes so didn't bother finishing it - as such I decided it could be a good start for a conversion smile.gif

So my thought is to use Deffkoptas as the flight mechanism and just bang up the rest, maybe add a tailgunner.

My idea is to put two Deffkoptas in the wings where the missles would go - not the whole kopta just the rotor (tied into the turbine for power) and some of the body for the pilot and convert the pilot into a gunner strapped under the wing. Then turn the troop compartment into a tail gunner making the whole valk a gun ship not transport.

Now my first question is does anyone think this would look any good? and my second is does anyone know what the size is like between the Deffkoptas and the Valkyrie? not sure if the Koptas are going to be too big for my idea or if I should try scratch building some rotors?

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

A Deffkopta is about 3" long (its roughly bike sized). A Valkyrie is about a foot long (12"), with a similar wingspan.

While adding rotor bits to a Valk looks very cool, I wouldnt recommend Deffkoptas as a source, they're far, far too small. Get some plasticard and make some rotors, it'll look better and be cheaper too.

good call.
also, go to youtube and look up a dude by the name of Kanvas1. he has a series of videos where he scratch builds a squig tank from plasticard, full of handy hints and tips for working with plasticard.

I think he means use the blades as if they are propeller from a plane not helicopter blades. If so that wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Thanks guys,

Based on your comments and doing some more research I think I might go with an orky version of the osprey

Also found this which has me thinking of some scratch built def koptors - dont know if I can pull it off but worth a look - if anyonek knows where to get some turbines similar to these from please let me know.

Bit streamlined for Orks but I like the concept.

Cheers.

Oh Ok well you could just steal my Idea and Ork it up a bit.

Still I might have to charge you a copyright Fee tongue.gif laugh.gif

It would make it a lot easier as you don’t have to do all the sanding and green stuffing to make it neat
