Hi all,

The Little Wars comp is on again this year - May 23rd! We look forward to seeing even more of y'all enter stuff this year biggrin.gif

Little Wars “Ozpainters Open”

At this year’s Little Wars gaming event on May 23rd we will be holding the second “Ozpainters Open” painting & modeling competition.
We invite entries from all comers whether you are a Historical gamer, Warhammer player or just a modeling enthusiast.
There will be trophies for the placegetters in each category and other.
At this stage we haven’t determined the exact nature of the prizes on offer but we will make them worthwhile and rewarding. Remember, participation is key to the success of this event. The more entries we get, the better the prizes! Even if you feel your models aren’t up to Golden Demon standard please enter something! You just never know

You can find more information on the Little Wars Website: http://www.littlewars.net.au/

General Rules:
Any miniature from any manufacturer
Any base may be used for your model however judges will be assessing the appropriateness of the base to the model both in terms of size and style.
Plinths are allowed but will not be considered in the judging except as a negative when they are oversized as compared to the model they hold.
Entry Fee
There is a $5 flat entry fee which covers the running of the competition and provision of prizes and events for the day. Regardless of how many categories you enter you only pay $5.
Entering
An entry form will be available online shortly which should accompany your entry.
Entries may be entered in person, by a friend on your behalf or by post. If you enter a miniature by post you MUST include self addressed packaging of sufficient size, with postage paid, to get your model back to you. We cannot take responsibility for items that go astray in the mail so express post satchels are recommended so at least there is some level of traceability.
You may enter each category only once.
Gold, silver and bronze trophies will be awarded for all categories with additional prizes for the first place winners.
Models will be judged on painting and modelling skill and overall appearance. Basing is considered but the appearance of the ‘hero’ model is much more important.

Categories:
Single Miniature:
Any single model from any manufacturer where the actual miniature is no taller or longer than 50mm in any direction (not including banners/scenery/basing etc). Mounted minis may be slightly taller than this but are included in this category.
Models may be from any period including real world historical miniatures.
The miniature should fit its base comfortably and not appear unbalanced or be overpowered by its base. The actual scale of the model is not important but it's size is.

Large miniature/Vehicle/Warmachine
This category covers all miniatures larger than those covered in the single category. Squadrons or groups of vehicles should be entered in the unit category. Crewed warmachines are entered here if only one warmachine is present. A group of ballista or battery of cannons would be entered in the unit category.
It includes all vehicles and warmachines, warjacks, dreadnaughts and large scale models up to 90mm scale.
Basing is up to the competitor but again will be judged for appropriateness.

Unit, squad or battleforce
Any coherent unit, squad of up to 20 models or skirmish battleforce of up to 10 models may be entered in this category. Batteries of warmachines and squadrons of vehicles are also entered here.
There is a minimum of 3 models for this category.
Units or squads need not be game legal but must appear to be a coherent unit or force.
Once again basing is up to the competitor but it will be judged for appropriateness

15mm squad, unit or battleforce
The entry should consist of 10 or more models of a 15mm or smaller scale. It can include vehicles or warmachines and may be of any period or genre. The entry may be a single unit or an entire army - it's up to you. Judges will be looking for a well painted, coherent force. Historical accuracy will not be considered (unless you paint a sherman tank pink or something silly like that tongue.gif )
Models may be based in any way you see fit but please bear in mind that over the top basing will detract from your entry.

Open
Go wild. This category covers everything not noted above. You can enter 125mm scale busts, dioramas, scratch built full scale props (i.e. lazguns, swords, huge wolfen statues).
This category will be judged partly on painting and partly on a general coolness factor so your imagination can run riot.

It will be a fun day of gaming, painting and general hobby merriment.

Look forward to the entries. You can contact us via email ozpainterscomp@live.com

Only a week and a half to the day now. I hope we can see some of the work from WargamerAUers on the day. Come along - it'd be grand to see ya! biggrin.gif

1 week to go. We have some great prizes, donated kindly by Realm of Legends. Also on offer are the trophies and certificates so get your entries prepared and bring 'em on in.
Remember - any mini - any manufacturer so, if need be, just drag a unit or champion out of your army and pop along!

Stupid question: when do the entries need to be in?

I think I got there around 11 last year, and you'd already started judging some of the categories smile.gif

Yeah good point, i might pack a few things just in case biggrin.gif

Not a silly question - I didn't say it in my first post wink.gif
We'll start judging at 12.00 this year. We will accept entries up until the category in question has been judged though. I'd expect to be finished by 3.00pm(ish) barring photography etc.
