Hi guys,
I've recently purchased a Tyranid Hive Tyrant kit and am being reintroduced to the horrors of dealing with multi-part metal models.
I've assembled the body and head, filling the gaps with GS and am quite happy with it. Unfortunately, I cannot get the legs to "bind" to the body. The glue is in contact with both sides of the model and it feels as though it has set after 100-120 seconds, but as soon as I move my hands away the model falls apart - the glue is still shiny and wet.
The steps I have taken:
- Clean up the parts with files
- Wash all parts in warm, soapy water - scrubbed with old toothbrush
- Built body using Zap-a-Gap without any problems
- Attempted to build legs with Zap-a-Gap :: FAIL
- Attempted to build legs with GW Super Glue :: FAIL
- Post on Wargamerau :: in progress
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You will probably have to pin the legs together and then to the body. Also superglue struggles to bind when it's humid. Hope that helps.

You'll definitely want to pin the legs, the hive tyrant is particularly top-heavy.

I find scoring the surfaces that are to bond helps, it gives the superglue something to "grab" onto as such. Alot of the time the glue will just sit on a flat surface and it takes ages for it to set.
As mentioned pinning the model will also help.

I put a very small amount of green stuff into the hole, rammed the leg into the greenstuff so that it was slightly tacky (you could still pull it out, and it would fall out if you turned it over fast enough) and then put zappa around the edge of the join, then tilted the model around so that the glue went into the join as opposed to running down the model onto the table.
I did one leg at a time... let the glue dry mostly, (left it for 10/15 mins, and moved on to another model for a little bit) came back and rince/repeat for the other leg.
alternatively, what i had to do with a zoanthrope that wouldnt glue for me last night, put a small amount of tissue paper into the hole, after you've put some glue in, then push the leg in... helps the glue bond quicker.
