I have to admit whilst I used to really like FOW I got a bit bored with my German Army and sold it some months ago.

However one thing i am really looking forward to and which will drag me back towards the game is the prospect of doing EW.. I'm not sure which army but I'm thinking either Poles or Commonwealth would be fun... even the French just to get my hands on the best early war tank the Char B.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I don't know much about EW other than the French sucked wink.gif

Will we eventually see the Aussies in Tobruk in EW?
Andy-thompson
Yes you will Dane. I've got mine already as the next painting project for while I'm away.

Actually to be fair locally, which is what FOW is all about Bn - or Coy + the French were not that much worse than the Germans.. it was in their grand strategy that they were beaten. That's probably why they are appealing because as a Coy Commander you have a hope of winning!

No EW Africa until Mid-2011 when the book comes out. sad.gif

Yeah from what I've read the French army was better but they obviously still lost, so exciting for us.

Is there any news on that book yet Witchhammer?

The Poles with armoured trains will be interesting as will the Russian T35s and T28s (the five and three turreted monstrosities).

Bit like covalima EW might get me back into FoW after having hardly played for two years.

The French vs German difference will come in their ratings. Frogs will be CT whereas Germans will be CV or CT.

Having a look at the list on the forum on the BF site it has the Germans as CV for the Battle of France. Fallschirmjager are still FV and expensive.

Would be good if BF did "Operation Sealion" so then you could field "Dad's Army" having a go.

i tell you what.... start saving for the poles and start planning those armoured train armies.... also, expect every 2nd army to consist of french heavy tanks.... believe me. i know what im talking about.

I don't like competition gaming anyway so I'm safe.. I prefer to wargame to supplement my love of history / sci fi etc...

I make army lists that are fun not designed to win.

Not that I know, other than it's planned for Mid-2011. Blitzkrieg will be out late this year (August-September is the window from memory), which will be Poland and Fall of France. Not too sure what they're doing with the Mediterranean or the invasion of Norway (and Denmark). If the Dutch and Belgians get any lists, it'll probably be PDF sad.gif. Hopefully they'll do a Late-War style series of books on it, but that's just wishful thinking by me.

Early War will be out in the early weeks of August 2010...promises to be huge with a whole swag if new lines and other associated bits and pieces.

I'm looking forward to Polish cav and very very small tanks that a harsh word could knock out smile.gif

That new series of books from Osprey that is now available from the newsagent is an excellent source of information. There is some good information about Polish tank forces and their actions in No1 Poland 1939. Would have like more colour plates though, especially of uniforms.

I'm looking forward to finding my Soviet Late War army is just as compatible for Early War as it was Mid-War.
