we've got ourselves some media coverage. WIN TV have just visited and done an interview that will be aired next week on the local news. So tune in, 6.00pm, WIN.sometime next week.
After last years debacle where they interviewed a wolf man/Catweazle, I had a haircut and shave for this effort.
damn it is hard to explain the game quickly, but with the help of some DE warriors and Grey Knights, you might get to see some dice rolling and DE warriors falling over. If they air that bit. The news crew was really good actually.
They will also use some footage from 2009 and I believe are sending a crew up on Saturday for coverage.
GW, you don't pay me enough for this stuff, where else do you get 3 minutes of prime time footage into a target audience ?

They could only air that on the late news and even then....

Bobo, there is a good chance Stu still watches a TV using cathode tubes that he wired up himself from leftover parts he found on the roadside. Not everyone has moved to digital TV and 1" thick LCDs.

At least they've already taken the footage - last year it was kids asking me "what was wrong with you? you looked retarded or maggo or something"

uhm, No.
The Naracoorte Herald have done their dash I'm afraid. They wouild only cover the event if we paid for an advert to go with the article (that I would have to write). We've provided them with pics, we've written articles and frankly, they might just want to send a journalist in to actually get a story for their paper.
That's not journalism, that's coercion !

ya boo sux to them.
At least when I wrote articles for the "West Wimmera Advocate", they ran my pieces as News and didn't try to sell advertising to the community group I was representing.

Owned by Fox are they?

Probably just a struggling paper trying to find *some way* to survive in a dying market...
Still sux though, it doesn't sound like a potentially successful policy, now does it...
So why Fox works I dunno...

my wife works for the bank, when they do fundraiders (beyond blue etc), the paper won't cover them either, unless they pay for an advert. They let the Red Cross articles through, but they have to be written by the Red Cross ladies ! When the school has an open day or an event like the Field Days, you have to pay for the advert before they will run a story. Public interest does not determine which stories get run.
At the same time, they run stories on House Auctions, detailing the bidding, describing the house, singing its praises, naming the Agent with the phone number and there is no disclaimer the piece has essentially been paid for. The advertorial article is indistiguishable from the other "news" articles. The Agents Ad appears nearby. Pay for an advert, get a free story.
I suspect the trick to selling papers is to write stories, rather than pretend paid adverts are stories.
Yeah, not a happy possum with the local paper, it has a small coverage and a lot of (anti council) bias. Not helped by it being owned by people who have commercial interests in naracoorte either. They have also starred on Media watch ! (not my doing).
BorderWatch is the main SE paper anyway. I'm also toying with the idea of an article for the main Adelaide paper.
see if I have time.
