Full Version: More spots at QM III

I have had a few people ask me about lifting the number of places at QM III form our current 56 spots, and in reply I have stated that "inside the hall we can't fit anymore tables", then it was put to me to put more tables outside under the "covered area" This is not out in the open or anything but just out of the main hall! biggrin.gif
Now I am willing to do this as long as no one objects to it, even though it means I have to make more bloody terrian biggrin.gif
I also stated that playing out there it might not feel "part of" the tournament, but I have been told by others that just being there is great !! Since there will be a few tables out there as well!
So any people that have attended the last 2 Quarter Master tournaments will know of the area I am speaking off!
So please let me know
Cheers Rob

+1 Most of the attention is on your own table until you finish, so bring it on I would be happy to play anywhere.

I am all for it but what would be the bad weather plan?

Not a worry this is still part of the main building(so under cover and is fenced on all sides , so unless it's a cyclone it shouldn't affect the games armata_PDT_04.gif

May I please reserve a table next to the coffee cart, waiter?
The Witchking
well if they wanted to play at QM, they should have done the smart thing and signed up (and paid) early tongue.gif

snooze, you lose.

I have no objections to playing in the covered area outside other then where will you put the tables overnight?

I assume you'd have to pack all the terrain away for each of those on the Saturday night, and only set them up on the Saturday morning instead of Friday evening.
raven0470
The Terrain and tables don't worry me , it how you guys feel about playing out there , with all the doors open it will feel the same anyway! biggrin.gif

I prefer playing outside, some of us aren't adverse to the sun and fresh air.

Besides making the tourny bigger is a plus.
raven0470
Your not in the sun you are still under the cover of the building armata_PDT_02.gif
The Witchking
will we be in the sun?

Right YOU are going to be thrown into the SUN in a minute !!!!! armata_PDT_02.gif

I know where not in the sun directly, but I can see the sun .... and that makes me warm and happy.

And Im closer to the canteen

i wouldn't mind playing outside.

However, I wouldn't want that area full of tables. A couple would be ok, but between games it'd still be nice to have somewhere under cover to chill and chat.

imho

So chockers, then?

It is not sun or rain that is the problem.

Wind is what hurts gaming outside. Perhaps some snaffled UV netting on the fencing to help cut down the wind would make it more palatable.

What if a game that determines the top 3 is on an outside table and a random gust of wind blows paper/books/ and then minatures around...?

Remember it will be winter (Bris= prevailing cold gusting winds from the southwest, coming off stanthorpe etc.). The building itself will provide a fair amount of protection to the outside area, but a big gust might funnel(increasing the windspeed) around the corner and into that area....

Legitimate casualties.

Play it as it lies.
Eltnot
Up here in Rockhampton we play in a shed that is open on three sides. We don't have any problems unless it's very windy (ie cyclonic).

If someone's little dollies are getting cold I'm happy to swap tables with them...

...and belittle their manhood.

Its a win-win situation.
CeilingCat
I for one support this idea.

And it has nothing to do with me being on the waiting list.... nothing at all.

In related news Wombats wants to give me his spot, true story.

Punctual Wombat cares nothing for your plight.

Would it be possible to give preference to previous attendees?
I know ColostomyBoy is in the same boat.

I'm all for first in best dressed as it lets you guys make a bigger tourney next time.

It is worth considering since scoring pretty much requires you to attend all four if you want the big choppy doover.
raven0470
We are considering different things atm, so wait and see biggrin.gif

no, you do not have to attend all 4 to be eligible for the chain sword. attending all 4 will only increase your chances. the best overall score from all people who have attended QM will be used to determine who gets the sword.

space and the number of tables available determine numbers unfortunately, as much as i think taking up the whole car park with more tables and having hundreds of people there would be great it just won't and can't happen.

Clearly we need to go and break a large amount of legs, just to ensure a level playing field of course.

No, they don't have to, but they're not going to win, are they?

It would be a shame to see a leading contender miss out, especially if there are new table becoming available.

Maybe consider something like an annual subscription?

Gives you guys the security of an early sign-up.
