Dust Warrior
Done, and welcome aboard.

You'll find lots of people able to spot you anything you need.
Dust Warrior
I'm checking to see what the opinion is on moving this competition one weekend earlier to October the 4th. This is the Saturday in the long weekend. This isn't an actual change until I hear back from the people who've already said yes to the advertised date.
barit
Long weekend would put me out, I can probably grab another mate to sign up for this too.
Dust Warrior
There will be no date change. The competition will run on October 11th as originally advertised.

The Hobby Matrix has once again kindly donated a significant amount of store vouchers for prizes. I'd encourage everyone to come along to have a chance at winning one of these. The prize break down will come later but is likely to be a voucher for the top 3 finishes on each side. And I've even see a stray Jar Jar floating around for people to compete for.
Dust Warrior
Lightspeed is expanding to run a juniors X-Wing competition at the same time. The junior event is $7 for club members and $10 for non-members and is available to anyone 15 years or younger.

The competition will start and finish at the same time as the main event however it will consist of 3 rounds. 2 rounds will be dog-fighting and one round will be one of the Lightspeed missions. The same Rebel versus Imperial matchup will be used.

The results of the junior competition will be combined with the adult competition to decide the overall winning force of the day. Best pilots will still be decided seperately.

Any juniors interested in the event can register here or email xwing@houseofholden.net.

I probably can't let you play with the kids, but I'm sure we can scrounge up any ships you might desire if you can't get them yourself. Lots of the 'old guard' players by now have lots of spare ships in their fleets.

Oh my yes

Cool cool, I got 4 tie-fighter, 1 Fire spray, 1 tie Interceptor,1 tie-phantom (on its way) and what else I'll buy until October ^^. So I should be good. I might need to come to one of the gn meetings to get some practice ^^.
Dust Warrior
The Players Pack has been released.

The basic break down is this:
  1. Dog-fight
  2. Area Control
  3. Dog fight
  4. Hunt and escape

The senior event covers all 4 missions, the junior the first 3.

The standard dog-fights are normal. The other two missions feature standard dog-fighting with extra conditions to give the fleet you fight for more victories. In these missions you'll either be trying to get your own win, or trying to get as many points for your fleet to win (and the best will just do both). The area control mission is basically a capture the flag type and the hunt and escape is a basic shoot the targets or escape the board. All the full details are in the players pack.

Note that the scenarios may be tweaked between now and the competition. Any changes will be updated on this forum.
barit
Will shoot through the money, I only have rebel ships - Andreas plays imperial.
DarkHorse
My 3 Defenders have finally arrived. Now will I have the guts to fly a Defender "swarm"?
Incognito
can i go in as a maybe, dont know if ill be here due to work
Dust Warrior
No problem. Numbers aren't finalized till on the day, though early bird payments do go into the raffle for a voucher to our sponsor The Hobby Matrix. Also the earlier you can pay the better chance you have of locking in the faction you want to be (late comers may be asked to play a specific faction to balance out the forces).
Dust Warrior
Mission 2 in the players pack was found to have balance issues. It's being re-written and tested again. It'll still have the same goal of control of satellite tokens and the chance to earn extra victory points for your fleet.
Dust Warrior
Just a bit over a month to go. It's time to start nominating the faction you want to use so we can balance out the forces.
Behemoth
Simon O'Brien - Rebel scum

Aidan O'Brien - Imperial

Jason Glumart (TBA) - Rebel scum
Behemoth
Crap - I have just been reminded that it is the same day as the Zombie walk and I promised the kids we would dress up and do the walk last October.

Hugley sorry Lance but all 3 of us are out. sad.gif
Dust Warrior
A large number of the juniors that were to attend are no longer available for the competition. In order for the junior competition to go ahead we'll need 6 confirmed and paid entries a week before the competition. If this doesn't occur any junior entries can either be refunded or join in the adult competition at the junior rates.
Dust Warrior
Just a reminder for all the people deciding if they'll enter or not - registrations paid before October 4th go into the draw for the random door prize of a gift voucher to The Hobby Matrix. The earlier you sign in the better the chance of getting the fleet you want. Late comers can still join on the day but may have to be prepared to play both factions (if able to do so).
DarkHorse
And paid!
Dust Warrior
I'm away for a week and will not be checking or updating news much (if at all) during the week. But don't stop joining the event or encouraging your friends to do the same and all payments will be processed when I get back.

We also need to find more Rebels - the Imperials are enjoying early favourtism this time around. I suspect the Rebel Aces will be out before Lightspeed so this will be a great chance to give the new ships a run.
Kordos
Very tempted to jump ship to the Rebels thanks to Rebel Aces.......

Now need to see if I can get my hands on a copy
Dust Warrior
And I'm back and ready to take any early bird payments again.

If anyone is at Concentric Games this weekend and sees some X-Wing being played feel charitable and tell them about this upcoming event.
Nank
All paid, could I please be put down for Rebels.
Dust Warrior
For those who aren't making up their mind till the day if they are attending or not please not that I'm looking to make it a 12 on the dot start so that some of the competitors can get off to other events after the competition. I'm normally off-line from an hour before the event starts so I won't see any "I'm running late" messages from that time.

The 7pm ending time will be the latest time; I'm hoping the competition wraps up closer to 6pm.
4ndi
I'll transfer the money tmrw, hope I won't have to work ohmy.gif.
Dust Warrior
Any money transferred today or tomorrow will count for the pre-pay registration and be eligible for the random door prize.

Payment can be made on the day but it would be appreciated if I know in advance who decides they are going to attend during the week to help keep the forces balanced and so that I know to look out for you on the day. Having said that I am aiming for a 12pm start so please arrive early enough to catch up with me and to prepare you ships for the first game. The venue will be open from 11:15am at the latest.

The player pack has been altered and is now fixed. Mission 4 remains the same except both shuttles must travel from the same side but are pushed a little closer to the Rebel to avoid Imperials destroying one shuttle out of boredom in the first round. Mission 2 has returned to a capture the flag style mission where you get more bonus victory points for securing the opponents satellite while defending your own. In both cases the missions provide bonus points for your fleet and don't effect your battle outcome - each side will have to decide if they want their faction to be the overall winner or if they prefer to go for personal glory.

Can participants please bring a satellite token from the starter box, a shuttle token from the starter box and a collection of the critical hit markers to record points earned from capturing satellites.

The junior competition has been cancelled. There were no entries received. Anyone may join the main competition but will be paying the full rates now.

Thanks Cypher. What fleet do you wish to fly?
Dust Warrior
To anyone still deciding if they're coming we've got 10 already for the competition and are still taking entries right up to the day. It would help in the running of the comp if you plan on coming by letting me know before hand.

Just a reminder for those attending to bring shuttle tokens, satellite tokens and a print-out of your fleet list (plus all the other X-Wing bits of course).

Check your email: you may have one more late joiner.
Dust Warrior
The days battles were fought and an epic struggle was waged but in the end only one side can claim victory for the day. And this day it was the Rebels turn to win.

Rebel Fleet Victory Points: 18
Imperial Fleet Victory Points: 16

The break down of individual games is

CODE

Rank   Name                 Fleet   Score   Match Points
  1      Connor McDade      Rebel     20        709
  2      Michael Buckley    Rebel     15        583
  3      Casper Fertier     Rebel     15        438
  4      Jake Kroker        Imperial  10        474
  5      Evan Becker        Imperial  10        357
  6      Nick Hardy         Imperial  10        344
  7      Andreas Nicolay    Imperial  10        317
  8      Gary Davies        Rebel      5        375
  9      Shaun Schafferius  Imperial   5        280
  10     Andrew Nankivell   Rebel      0        119

The bonus fleet points in round 2 and 4 ended up being the same for each fleet. The final result came down to round 3 when the Rebels scored 4 victories to the Imperial 1 (and also had everyone finish the round in under an hour).

A big thank you to everyone who turned up and to our sponsor The Hobby Matrix and THMXcessories.

Fleet lists to follow.
Kordos
