Well since you mention it, thay would make it really easy for people to reference the terms when they need to find what it means armata_PDT_11.gif

Don't space them out maybe a space between each letter.... makes it too hard to read.
Maxo_Q
we'll worry about format later
ArchonCryx
When I became a moderator over at Eldaronline I immediately created a stickied thread with an abbreviation summary. It can depend on context. For example, in discussions on Dark Eldar armies, PG is Plasma Grenades, HW for Haywire Grenades, DL is Dark Lance, SC is Splinter Cannon, SR Splinter Rifle, SP Splinter Pistol, Bl for blaster, Dis for Disintegrator and so on.

I generally use Agr for Agoniser and Rdr for Raider. Wyches get WWs (Wych Weapons). H-Fex is a Horrorfex. I could produce many, many more!

Less specifically: SM for Space Marine, CSM for Chaos Space Marine.

A General 'net One that always mystifies me:
YMMV

Might I suggest sorting alphabetically and listing multiple entries next to each other with clarifications about army specific. E.g.
AC - Armoured Company
AC - Assault Cannon
AC (Chaos) - Aspiring Champion

This should make finding them easier and finding conflicts easier as well.

Another couple I often have trouble with are the Tyranids Abbriviations (despite having a copy of the codex!)

'Standard Fexes'
Dakkafex - (4 devourours I think under 115 pts)
Snipperfex - (Barbed Strangler and Venom cannon?)

And some of the Biomorphs like ES - Extended senses = + BS? - I'm tired sorry.
(theres a couple of others but don't feel like trawling this morning)
The Nothas
Scoring Unit = (chuckles) giggidy giggidy
Assaultguardsman
=][=, not that other thing =)(= is the accepted inquisition symbol. Square brackets people.
Luzrath_the_Raven
Intresting, when i started here with no lingwo i just somehow guessed correctly what people meant.
The_Number_Nine
While we're at it, what does WAAC (or something like that) mean?

Win At All Costs
Kingnova3000
How about...

Apoc - Appocalypse, a 40k rules supplement that allows for mega games of 40k.

CoD - Cities of Death, a 40k rules supplement that contains rules for city fight games.
Assaultguardsman

Gets confusing around here, since there's also a tournament called Apocalypse.
Carnex
Then we should have it double listed.
Blackhearts Reaver
SAFH: Shooty army from Hell
YogoZuno
...and IIRC, SIGAFH = Shooty Imperial Guard Army From Hell
Eldar_Storm
SAG = shock attack gun

My first post here. Can't believe that this thread has been here for a year and you haven't listed:

WD = White Dwarf ohmy.gif
Assaultguardsman
A lot of the abbreviations used are context sensitive, I've found.

For example if the post is about a Tau army list, FW probably means Fire Warrior(s). If it's about a release schedule, it probably means ForgeWorld.
Yaleling
One I've seen a few times here is MSU. Google and urbandictionary failed me. What does it mean? huh.gif

Multiple Scoring Units? unsure.gif

Ususally either Multiple Small Units or Mass Small Units.

Think, one CSM squad of 20 marines, or 4 CSM squads of 5 marines. That principle en masse.
Chaplain_Fortis
Its been around in fantasy for a long time. Never been applicable to 40k until now.
Beanith
My mates and I generally refer to the Big rule book as BRB when talking about it via msn etc when we're fighting debating the various rules. Same again for the SRB (small rule book) you get from AoBR.
Teefreka
One for the Ork boyz.

KFF = Kustom Force Field.

WAAAAAGH! = Time to party
Reunion-Round
Valk = Valkyrie transport
LRExt = Lemen Russ Exterminator
LRExec = Lemen Russ Executioner

BOB = Big Orange Book - 5th Ed rule book.

1ksons = Thousand Sons

Zerker = Khorne Berserker

DP = Daemon Prince

SG = Soul Grinder

just off the top of my head.
Dawn
Some additions may include,
AoBR - Assault on Black Reach (5e starter set)
DoW - Dawn of War (strategy computer 40k game)
WA - Winter Assault (strategy computer 40k game)
DC - Dark Crusade (strategy computer 40k game)
SS - Soulstorm (strategy computer 40k game)

More if I put my mind too it.

Thanks for posting this. For a somewhat no0b I am when it comes to the rules it makes a great difference. I had always wandered what MEQ stood for!

The Dawn
Reunion-Round
OotF - Officer of the Fleet
MRP - Multiple rocket Pod
condiment
I dunno if people use this:

PA: Power Armour
CA: Carapace Armour
AoF: Acts of Faith
Def_metal_rules
cheese/whimp/cowards = Eldar
Reclusiarch Rusty
I couldn't find WAAC (Win at all costs) on that list.
Rcok - Armies with lots of high AV Tanks, eg multiple landraiders
Paper - Lots and lots of infantry, eg Ork infantry swarms.

And 2 others that I don't know,

YTTH
Critical Mass (In reference to a list design)
Reunion-Round
Critical mass is a YTTH name for damage output lists.

YTTH = yes the truth hurts, which is a website run by a very arrogant power gamer in the USA
Crazy_Phil
LRR = Land Raider Redeemer

SrG = Stormraven Gunship (new Blood Angels skimmer/flyer)
ProPain
helped me with MEQ, which is very confusing when u hear people say it. Question tho, why do people rate marine lists as MEQ and say its a bad thing? I dont like tanks. If I liked tanks I'd take imperial guard or eldar or tau. but because I dont like tanks people keep saying MEQ at me disapprovingly. Isnt it silly to call a marine list MEQ?
Reunion-Round
MEQ is not Mech.

MEQ - Marine Equivilent - (chaos marine, necron etc)
Reigi
Been hearing the following a lot, can someone please add succinct descriptions for:

Meta (eg "current meta" or "meta game")
Leaf Blower
RAS
Lash and/or Lash list
