Heya all,

I've decided to throw everything I'm working on into the one thread here, rather then trying to fixate on the one project to the exclusion of all else I can casually work through whatever takes my fancy and share it here.
Working on a new 40k army didn't go so well, so I'm taking a vacation of sorts from the Grimdark far future and delving into some other games to get me enthused about the hobby again biggrin.gif

First up on the to-do list is my brand spanking new Prussians from Dystopian wars and a Neverborn crew led by Pandora for Malifaux. Many thanks to the Phoenix forge for these new goodies!

So to start things off, I bought the starter Navy and starter Land forces for the Prussians in Dystopian Wars. I was surprised at how big the tanks are, the pictures made them look small to me but they're actually quite large, especially the Sturm-Panzer Land Ship which looks like it could pancake the Battleship if it ran over it!

IPB Image

Amazed at the quality of this stuff. Spartan games have well and truly won me over with these. There's no blemishes/flaws of any kind in the models and there was no mold lines, just a few odd pieces of flash I was able to break away with my fingernails! After 15 minutes of inspecting and removing what little flash there was, they were ready for undercoating.

IPB Image

As far as Malifaux goes I bought Pandora (regular and avatar form), Teddy, the Doppleganger, some waldegeists, Sorrows and a Poltergeist. I'm hoping to take my time with these so their progress will be a bit slower.

IPB Image

I took the opportunity to undercoat the Malifaux Doppleganger at this point seeing as I'm really eager to paint her/it. I figure I'll work on her whilst I work on my Prussians so I don't feel like I'm doing too much repetition. My painting attention span is very, very short.

Now I'm just waiting for the undercoat to dry before getting stuck in...

So undercoat is dry, now the real work can begin...

IPB Image

I'm thinking I'll start with the Prussian Aircraft as I have a clear idea of what I want to do with them whereas I'm still deciding on the ships and tanks.

Just for something different, I'd like to do the majority of my air force red ala The Red Baron? Could be good?

But before going any further, I need to finish my dinner...

IPB Image

I can eat this because I'm not on a hunger strike in order to afford more Space Marines tongue.gif

Oh they were Jonas! Unfortunately I'm hungry again, luckily I made some Lasagne earlier biggrin.gif

IPB Image

So, progress report!
Quick WIP shots of the fighters and the Geier

IPB Image

IPB Image

Plenty of detailing to do but the the basis is there. I need to highlight the red and paint the cockpits on the lil fighters, that should about do them. Oh and I'll paint some prussia icons on their wings when I'm feeling up to it.

The Geier, pretty much the same, just gotta pick out more details on that. I think I might pick some out with a gold like the tesla coil looking thing on it's back near the smoke stacks.

And I started on the doppleganger, just basics for now. Gonna work her skin up to a really pale skin tone, dunno what to do for the exposed muscles and sinew on her back. I don't want to do a "normal" red, bloodied look... Maybe a purple or green? I'd like something that hints at her otherworldly origins...

IPB Image

Tis early stages yet, hopefully have some finished work up in the not too distant future.

Comments and Critiscisms more then welcome as always.

For the Doppleganger you could paint it black, brush it red and then just slap some faux blood all over it.

Thanks Zippy, I was kinda hoping to avoid something "bloody" but the black base has me thinking... Something dark would look pretty sinister methinks...

Well before getting started tonight, here's where I stand.

Have made a start on the rest of the fighters and the Geier is coming along. With any luck I could have these completed tonight...

IPB Image

And the Doppleganger.

IPB Image

Got a few more highlights and her back to do but I'm happy with the contrast between the cloth and her flesh so far..

hey Beau, these are looking pretty awesome. I'm excited to see how that doppleganger turns out. After seeing franks dreamer purchase I'm keen to get my hands on some on them myself, not sure if I'd play though : /

So after a couple of nights painting, here's what I have to show for it! The dopple ganger is done, It was really fun to work on which is probably how I ended up finishing it so quickly.

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

Really keen to get some feedback on this one as its one of few models I've painted that is primarily exposed flesh. I ended up going with an icky green on her back to match her glowy green eyes.

Next up, I've started on Teddy. The idea being to make him a nightmarish polar bear rather then the normal brown bear colours that I've seen him in.

IPB Image

I'm planning to freehand some screaming souls in the love heart...

And my Prussian Fighters

IPB Image

I'm not sure whether to stick with the red or paint them black and gold like I intend to paint my ships. Perhaps I could paint some others or some of these Black and gold to help pick out squadrons and tell them apart?

Throughout the course of all this I got pretty hungry and made Pancakes.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Actually they were probably more like Crepes... Nonetheless with some lemon juice and sugar, they were good!

As always, comments and criticisms much appreciated and more then welcome.
Stay Tuned for more...

Done a bit more work today so I thought I'd share what's WIP at the moment...

Really enjoying painting Teddy, it's so simple yet such a characterful piece!

IPB Image

Having a break before attempting the freehand I intend to do in the love heart...

And here's my Prussian cruisers getting started. I'm going for a Black and gold with small amounts of white and red for markings scheme with my fleet and tanks, at the moment I've just started slapping on some of the basic colours...

IPB Image

Thanks for looking!

I really like the contrast of the pale flesh and dark shiny green evil back ...

As for Teddy, he's looking great, can't wait to see the free hand!

Thanks Van der Vaart and SandiDee! I've made a start on Teddy's heart and thought I'd share some pics to get some feedback.

I've gone for something similar to what Eavy Metal's Neil Green did on the armour of his Harry the Hammer for the showcase in the Warhammer 25th anniversary White Dwarf. I did a quick sketch to try and get my bearings on what exactly I was trying to apply to the model, I find doing this can often help me when attempting freehand.

IPB Image

I stuck to using very neutral colours to try and avoid detracting from his face and gribbly maw which should probably be the main focal point of the model.

Apologies for poor picture quality and lighting. Its early days yet and there is plenty more to do but thoughts so far?

I didn't mean to armata_PDT_09.gif

I'm trying to find a way to make the fighters noticeably different... Damn the Red Baron for being too awesome!

Thanks all! Teddy is now done, I added a few subtle highlights to the freehand and tidied it up a bit but decided not to go what I felt would have been too far with adding to it, overall I'm quite happy with him smile.gif

IPB Image

Since completing him I've started on my Waldgeists whilst continuing to work on my Prussian ships. For something different, I have some spare bits from a wood elf dryad set that I'm going to use to make the Waldgeist's bases more forest like.

IPB Image

I'm thinking on my Prussians trying a dirty, rusty white because the large amounts of black on the ship hulls is looking rather bland...

More on the way soon...
