UPDATE: Quick snap to Bloodrunners, Nihilators and accompanying boss dudesmans.

Pictures are high quality (slow) as they are for approving the colour scheme.

To begin with, a mood setting interlude.

The colour scheme for the Bronzeback Titan is based on Vyvyan from the Young Ones.
Seemed appropriate for Skorne.

Quick snap to the Cyclops test paint using Vallejo Gold and smoother white.

Whole album is here.

This is done with a base coat of single colours and Army Painter Soft Tone (the lightest one).

It is effectively a Devlan Mud wash. A matte spray is used to take the shine off.

There is almost no manual shading except some brightening the white post-dip on Makeda.

Only real bummer is some dodgey green stuff work that is standing out like dog's bollocks once the Soft Tone is on. The left shoulder of the Bronzeback shows in the first picture. Makes preparation more important than usual.

This technique was stolen from Housdorf Space's tutorial on Lyoss is Burning.
Its really made knocking over armies a breeze and saved me a lot of time.
Worth noting he used NZ Bunnings-equivalent walnut varnish.
I use Army Builder simply because I know it'll be consistent and I paint armies in bits.

Going to do the ropes holding on the armour in red in future (like the red tassels on Chinese martial arts swords) and possibly red cloth on the kilts / happy pants Nihilators wear.
Also the more red involved (like the dark red bases) the less silly the pink looks in contrast.

This is the dirty version of this technique.
It intentionally leaves a lot of gunk on the whites to make them cream.

Will upload some pictures of my Arcane Tempest Gun Mages to show how it goes with simple Asurmen Blue washes and crisp Vallejo Foundation White.

To come this week:

Both Morghouls
Hexeris
Molik Karn
Cyclops bastard who gives the reroll animus to everyone
Blood Runners
Nihilators
Nihilator Lad, the Warlock who sows breastplates into his chest for fun
Beast Handlers

This is C3ilingcat's army.
I'm probably going to do my Farrow in a similiar scheme alongside.

Interested to see what you think I can do better.

At some point I think people need to just accept that bad match ups and mission incompatabilities are possible.

Kaeris, alternate Criid and avatar Criid have been sitting next to the Pink Elephants waiting to be dipped:

Still umm-ing and ahh-ing over the final touches to Criid and Kaeris, then they'll be in the dip and photos will be up the next day.

Sure, I think I traded painting your Japanese Sectorial guys for random computer maintenance.

Seeing as you won't give the ######ers to me to paint I'm going to say your ninjas are letting themselves go and walking into x-ray machines with elephants.

People are going to cack themselves when they see Vyvyan pop out of Thermal Optic Camouflage in front of them.

Haha! that would explain why the good guys have a hold on things!

There aren't many good dippers so I'm excited to see results, I was always turned off by the gloss/shine it leaves.. Then I found dullcoat.

Test pics for the Cyclops.

Switched to Vallejo Gold and put a lot more Foundation White down so the varnish runs off more easily.
Photos don't compare well due to backgrounds, also red glows on my camera oddly.

Interested to see how these look next to the others, this colour scheme doesn't have pink or orange.
Seemed to lack contrast with just white and gold.
Made the ropes, tassels and loin cloth red to try and give it some spot colours.
They were the same Khaki as his nappy for the Titans.

If this is good Molik #$%@ing Karn is next.

He is going to bash up my favourite models so I made sure he was a pink ranga, too.

Also, Kaeris and Criid are now diary'ed in my signature.

These all have goop drying on them so I'll rip these down and replace them once they have black around their bases and a dull coat tomorrow evening.

Posted for sense of achievement.

Think I fixed the washed out colours problem with the Cyclops by going back to Blood Red with a Mechrite undercoat.

Stuck with the lighter Vallejo gold and trusted the extra pink on the models to make the colour balance nicer.

Anyhoo....

Morghy needs some more gold along his brow.

From behind, how all Skorne like it, particularly C3ilincats'
IPB Image
Captain bondage lad and all the random bits of scrap metal he's stuck through his own skin.
IPB Image
Nihilators are done. That photo bled pink into white where there is none, Capn B is a better indicator, their skin and scrap metal all look like his.

Morghy II: Morgh Harder?

Jury will be out til I can get some dull coat on them.
The wind has been spreading seeds around so these had to dry in a box unfortunately.
I don't have the heffalumps for reference so these could look a bit faded next to them.

Will finish up the Beastmasters tonight as well, they have very little non-white on them so I keep wanting to put more colours on. Might do some gold edging.

y u no prong for Molik? Molik needs moar prong.
IPB Image
Let me know what you want done next.
If you cane assemble and undercoat them Skull White I'll fly through them.

Need to put it next to the Titans for a final verdict from Ceilingcat (the owner).

Will post completed army soon.
