For the last 6 months I've been working on a little project of mine.

6 months of tirelessly plotting and painting.

All will be revealed tomorrow.

Untill then, keep your eyes on the sky...........

double beds are kinda mandatory if you want deh ladeez to hang around. Nothing says cheap more than a grown man sleeping in a single bed, unless it's a single mattress on the floor. Because that says 'smack addict'.

So for one reason or another I have always wanted to collect and paint a certain sort of army. An army with bugger all heavy choices, no real specialist units, just a nice solid core.

Having played 40k for quite a few years I really appriciate old school looking paint schemes and wanted to try something that not alot of people do these days. Something which takes a steady hand and a lot of paitence.

Enter my new army:

IPB Image

HOWLING GRIFFONS

I've always like this scheme, the red and the yellow look awesom together. Its just a real pain to paint yellow. So I PM'd Korocite about how he did the yellow for his Imperial Fists army. With some very helpful hints I went on my way.

This is where I'm at at the moment:

IPB Image

Once I mow the yard, go for a swim and have a beer or two I'll take some close ups of what I have.

Until then....

Enjoy.

Looks great so far. Hard to go wrong with the Griffons, they're a great looking chapter, and you've done them justice.

Looking good - very bright - not so sure about not many doing it though - I think there is as many as there has ever been - I have 15k points worth of quartered marines and I know of at least 3-4 others that have been done in last couple of years.

5 armies in the last couple of years doesn't make them common tongue.gif . What I was getting at is that I didn't to do the usual blood angels, ultramarines, space wolf or salamanders army.

To the pics.

You will have to excuse the pics, taken at night, very bright flash.

I managed to get hold of the termies from space hulk and cut the BA logos off and covered those areas with purity seals. here are the two that I have completed:

Fantastic. The Griffons are one of my favorite chapters, these guys look excellent. Perhaps replace the 'Defend' on the shield with something else though. It makes it seem like an ad for Armorall or something.

Land speeders, both with magnetised multi-meltas.

I decided to leave the crew out of the land speeder storm. It does look cool with them all hanging off of it but left them off becuase I'd imageing myself forgetting weather or not I'd disembarked the unit or not. Can always go on later if the mind changed.

Last pics for tonight are the tanks and dreads.

One Rhino, one Pred and one Razorback.

With the whole army I decided to make it have zero las options. Everything is all dakka, all the time. All weapons, doors and hatches are magnetised so I can run 3 rhinos for smaller games and remove weapons for weapon destroyed results. And yes, I know the rhino door is upside down, I like it like that as it makes the vehicle look a little chunkier.

IPB Image

Dreads are just AoBR regulars slightly altered so they look different. Nothing fancy, just small details. All arms are magnetised so plas dread can become melta dread.

IPB Image

And that will do for pics tonight.

Yeah, I was unsure about all of the labeling. What would you recommend?

they look good, though i think the red needs a highlight as stark as the highlight on the yellow.

Thanks guys, alot of time went into the yellow and red.

The red does need a harder highlight. there is one there but you really have to look for it. A harsher one would pick them up.

Something Latin or Greek always works well. Try vinco, that's Latin for vanquish.
