Due to personal issues, Matt has had to pull out of organising the event at extremely short notice. We're putting together a team of new organisers to make sure the tournaments still go ahead - Terry Masson (Tilaurin) will be the new lead TO. Right now, it's more important that this information gets out to all the players: please spread the word.

Event Clarifications:

The event format will be Steamroller 2012, using the Final Beta (14/12/12) rules - these are attached below.

The Reinforcements rule will NOT be used in any scenarios at Arcanacon. With the late arrival of the new Steamroller pack, there is simply not enough time before the event to let everyone know to bring additional models - when first planning the event, we expected SR2012 to be released during December.


Masters tournament (Saturday 28/1/12)

3 x 50 point lists
Characters may not appear in more than one list
Epic/nonEpic versions count as different characters, but obviously may not appear in the same list
Each list must be used at least once

4 Rounds will be played on Saturday.
Top 4 players will face off in the finals on Sunday (2 rounds).
Ticket includes entry into Sunday finals, if you qualify. Finalists who have purchased an Escalation ticket may get a refund at the convention.

Due to PP Event restrictions, we need at least 32 players to award an official Masters trophy. This hasn't been a problem in previous Arcanacons, but player numbers are down this year due to a lack of interstate players - if you know anyone who is interested in playing, please encourage them to sign up!

If we are unable to award a Masters trophy, Privateer Press Steamroller trophies will be awarded instead.

Escalation (Sunday 29/1/12)

Players bring armies for two casters.
For each caster, bring 25, 35, 50 and 75 point lists.

Note that each list must build on the previous one. For example, your 35 point list must include all models and units from the 25 point list, essentially adding 10 points. These points can be used to add to existing units if needed.

The event will run for 5 rounds: one game at each army size, and a second at 50 points.
Both 50 point lists must be used at the event.

Unbound! (Sunday, 29/1/12)

Due to lack of registrations, this event has been cancelled. Some tables will be available for casual play on Sunday.


Event registration (and pre-payment) is being handled through OzEvents. If at all possible, please pay for your tickets before the convention - there may be places available on the day, but pre-registration is a huge help for the organisers.

Arcanacon venue: Collingwood College, Hoddle St, Collingwood, Victoria. (Melways 2C, G9). For more information, see http://arcanacon.org/general/when.html

Start time: Please arrive by 9am - the venue may not be unlocked until 8:45am.
Games on Saturday will begin as soon as terrain is in place.

I am assuming the method of removing Reinforcements will be to remove the set of Flank scenarios from the tourney? Should be a good solution given there aren't enough rounds to run all 6 anyways.

Ben, if we dont get more than 32 players will we squeeze in 5 rounds on the saturday so everyone can play Escalation on sunday?

Quick question, what is the ruling on character unit attachments?


I understand that they are characters, but does the fact they are also unit attachments mean they are exempt from the restriction on appearing in more than one list?

Just putting it out there:

Given the current low numbers of registered and paid players do the organisers want to cap it at 32 and just make it a normal Steamroller event?

Doesnt look like we are going to get the 32 needed for it to be a Masters and making it the less onerous of the two event styles might get a few more locals along with only a 2 list requirement and playing 5 rounds in a single day.

Just my thoughts.

I think that if there's any chance we can run it as a Masters, we should take it. It has been advertised as a Masters event since last year, and people have made travel plans based on that. Sponsors have also made decisions about their level of support based on the status of the event - pre-emptively downgrading the tournament this close to the event would be unfair on any of those people.

If we don't get enough people for an official Masters tournament on the day, then we can move to a 5-round Steamroller instead.

Really? I just went to update my timetable and these events are blacked out.

I'm going to play an absolutely crap army that is exactly the same with no characters and just swap out casters. Only one model to paint too.
