Not sure if any of you guys have heard, but since some of you frequent the store on occasion thought i'd let you know. The Hornsby Games Workshop store will be closing on the 6th of July, with a goodbye party on the saturday before (30th June)

did they say why they are closing?? A combination of westfield jacking up rent (something like 20-30% if the store stayed where it was) and nowhere on the old side of hornsby for the store to move to. -------------------- "If somebody thinks they have the upper hand, break it"

Seems like quite a chunk of territory to leave unserviced or left to Independents. Not that there is an obvious independent.

No wonder there is such a high turnover of stores in westfields. It's not like the retail sector is booming at the moment, what the hell are westfields thinking? -------------------- Currently organising Tumult Fantasy 2012 > http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=141578

Maybe Gosford if you are north of Hornsby. Cya, Andrew. -------------------- Active member of the NSW Northern Knights Wargaming Club

Yep, Westfield and GPT are generally the same when it comes to this. Generally the option is: Pay more for where you are - OR Move to a different location in the complex (where they need to boost the incomes) for the same rent. You still have to pay to get the old location emptied out and "restored" to before you started there AND the new location fitted out as you would have it. With any luck, something will come along for the gamers on the northside - but it can also be argued that Sydney is OVER supplied with GW stores (there are 13 in the state, 11 of them are in Sydney. A city of 5 million or so people. ) -------------------- Not sent from my Lumia800 using the microwave as a proxy server.

GAME also going out of business. That corner of Westfield will be dark for a while.

Dropped into the store today and had a chat. Business has been slow at Hornsby since January. Very few kids turning up in the store. Their impression is that Westgfield itself has had less traffic. The "regulars" are forming their own gaming group - why not use the club? We should probably have some flyers at the store to try and catch some of these.
Castle Hill is moving across the street to a smaller premise with no direct street access. -------------------- Active NSW Northern Knights founding member
