Hey all!

Someone posted up a pic of some pony marines in the rumors thread, and I thought it might be a fun sculpting project to try myself.

I know that I'm not the first person to attempt this. I also know that this project won't be everybody's cup of tea- I'm not here to feed the trolls...

With that out of the way- what are your thoughts of my progress thus far? If I get a few sculpts finished I'd be interested in casting these up, any experienced casters keen to help out?

There are still some details to finish on the head, I'll revisit this once the GS is dry wink.gif

Bud if you do this properly i'm going to give you the internets. That is freakin sweet. The thing that makes me sad is i don't have the ability to do that. biggrin.gif

Just a question do you have the ability to model the rest?

I know you said you werent the first, but that may inspire you.

Everypony should experience the love and joy that can be brought to the tabletop with a friendship themed space mare-ine army.

Well this looks different in that you are sculpting helmets, if you do the rest of the armour it might look ok, of course you will have to paint them a cheerful colour though.

Fantastic. Sara just gave me all her old ones, maybe for Daemonzilla.

But this I want to see, because it's done by someone with Talent. biggrin.gif

Don't quit on it. Yes it's a stupid idea. Yes that means it's much cooler than any serious modelling diary.

May want to consider casting the helmet is resin rather than do them all separate, ironically that would leave you with a lot of my little pony heads.

Plan is to sculpt a few pose variations, each with a slightly different helmet (perhaps a beakie?). I'm considering casting the heads separately to allow head swaps and reposing for a bit of variety...

A question regarding using these as proxies- the models are too large for a 25mm base, but would fit on a bike base or 40mm round. What should I run them as, bikes or termies? This will determine how I progress with weapons etc.
